The lights on the unit and the sensor eyes do not light up. There is no response when I press the button.

I checked the following: a. the plug works b. the sensor eyes are aligned properly c. all the wires are attached correctly I don't know what to check next. Please advise. I am not comfortable checking electronics.

ok thanks, what make and model opener

  • Anonymous Apr 18, 2015

It is a Sears Craftsman 139.53995SRT. Old but was working up until a few months ago. At that time I had to hold the wall button down until the door opened completely. Now, nada.

  • rdjagger Apr 20, 2015

only suggestion i have is the jump the terminals that the safety sensors wire to. then try the wall button. if it works correctly, then the wiring t the sensors are broken/shorted. if the wall button does still not work, try jumping the terminals the wall button is wired to(quick jump) and see if the door opens or closes then. if it now works, then the wires to the wall button are broken/shorted. good luck

My garage door is not working .no power at all.no light on sensors.should i change the opener

Before you do anything drastic make sure that motor is receiving power when you press the open button. Check the breaker that feeds that line .

If power is entering unit and sensor light is also not working it is conceivable that the electronic control board is responsible for the issue.

I have problem with remote control, my remote control gives me blue light to switch the dashboard on but there is no lights coming on the dashboard. what is the problem

Hi, your remote has probably lost its coding. If you have the owners manual check page 65 learning additional remotes. If not do the following 1. Plug in the 6 pin hopped coded plug to control unit under drivers seat. 2. Press unlock button twice to disarm. 3. Press learn button on hopped coded plug. this erases all pre learnt codes. The led on dash should start blinking once per sec. 4. Press learn button on hopped coded plug again. The led on dash remains on for 4 sec. and then starts blinking faster. Ensure to do step 5 within 25 sec. 5. Press any button thrice on your remote that has a problem. 6. In response led on dash remains on for 4 sec and then blinks once per sec. This indicates that the remote has been learnt. Hope this helps.

My garage door starts down then goes back and the motor light flashes 10 times. The owner's manual only refers up to 6 flashes.

Richard, what is the make of your GD Opener unit? However, make sure the antena wire on the unit is turned up. 2. sometimes direct sun on the sensors prevent operation from the remote. 3.adjust sensors on both sides making sure the green or red lights are on.4. check the remote battery ensuring red light works when you press the remote button. 5. finally, has on vacation switch on the unit has not been switched on. My new bulb and sensor and my light recycles every 5 minutes. no lights disturbing the sensor

Product is not identified.
Plug into different outlet.
Buy new photo eye.
Cover photo eye with black tape and see if problem continues.
Check if light bulb is screwed in tightly.
Test outlet with circuit analyzer.
If this is Malibu timer, then photo eye wiring might be wrong.
Copy following link for malibu troubleshoot.

If this is a digital timer that also has photo eye on the same circuit, then timer might be wired incorrectly.

Door will not operate unless you hold down button

I am presuming the following: is it that the door will not operate unless you hold down the button to "close the door"? And the button you are pressing is the hardwired wall button or control inside the garage correct? And if you try to close the garage door with the remote the overhead lights flash off and on or the motor make a clicking sound (about 5 clicks?)
The problem is either an obstruction of the safety sensors at the bottom of the door or, one or both sensor eyes are out of alignment. If you look closely at both safety sensor eyes on the part that faces into the garage, you should see a glowing LED. One side will be an Amber color and the other Green. If one is lit (amber) but the other is not (green), that is an indication that the beam is not being received by the receiving eye (amber).
If there is no obvious obstruction (check for spider webs, dust, try cleaning the clear lenses facing each other, etc,) Try re-aligning the sensors. When they are properly aligned the Green LED will be lit. Now, check the motor for operation.
If you have difficulty getting the transmitter eye (green LED) to light, try closing the door at the wall button, then, pull the red emergency release handle to disengage the door.
Now, try operating the motor unit with the door disconnected while using the hand held transmitter. If the motor unit operates to the close position while the door is closed but not when opened, then that sounds like there is sufficient light entering the garage to "Wash" the transmitter beam out so the receiving eye does not get it.
Contact Chamberlain/Liftmaster for Sensor eye blinder shields that can be easily installed by you. (they just snap on) If neither LED is lit, make sure that the wire to the sensor(s) has not been cut off at the sensor itself. If that checks out, check the connection at the logic board. Make sure that both wires are securely connected.
If after checking all of that, and you do not have either of the LEDs on, then disconnect the safety sensor wires from the motor unit's logic board. Then take a 2" piece of bell wire and jump it across the two terminals for the safety sensors. If the unit operates normally when using the hand held transmitter, then the problem is likely: a) Bad safety sensors b) Broken wire to one or both sensors
To check if the safety sensors are good:
Remove both sensors from their mounting brackets. measure about 8" to 12" of wire from the back of the sensors and cut. You should have about 8 - 12 inches of wire on each. Now, separate and strip the insulation from each and then match the white striped wires and twist them together, and do the same with the solid non-striped wires. Take the sensors up to the motor head and connect the spliced wires to their respective positions on the logic board. Now, Point the two sensors directly at each other (its okay if the clear lens part are touching each other) Check if both LEDS are now lit. 1) If YES; then the sensors are good, the wire to them is broken somewhere; [FIX] replace the wires for both sides. 2) If NO: then the safety sensors need to be replaced. [FIX] Replace the sensors, contact Chamberlain / Liftmaster for replacement parts. You will need your garage door opener's model # which can be found under the light bulb or light fixture on the opposite side of the logic board. Having the model # speeds up the parts search for you.
I hope this helps you out. [I have been factory trained on residential and commercial garage door openers by Chamberlain / Liftmaster and have been providing installation and tech support on them for over five years. Prior to that I used to install and repair these units, and I've done that for nearly seven years.]

Green senor light blinks on and off. Can only open garage from wall opener . There is no senor blockage.

WHAT GREEN SENSOR LIGHT ARE YOU REFERING TO.

IF YOU MEAN THE WALL BUTTON LIGHT - THAT WOULD TELL YOU THET THE LOCK BUTTON IS ACTIVATED LOCKING OUT ALL RADIO CONTROLS - PRESS & HOLD THE LOCK BUTTON FOR 3 SECONDS THAT WILL TURN OFF THE LOCK FEATURE - PROBLEM SOLVED.

IF YOU MEAN THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE SAFETY EYE - CHECK THE WIRING IT COULD BE A BROKEN WIRE OR REVERSED POLARITY - ALSO BE SURE THE UNITS ARE PROPERLY AIMED AT EACH OTHER.

HOPE THIS HELPS

New eye sensor not lighting up when installed

Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another. Also one of them should say "sending unit" and the other is the "receiving unit". Did you buy them new and from a dealer?

Garage door opener

Check the electric eyes. If they don't see each other the door thinks there's something in the way. Blinking light is a safety alert to check the travel path.
