How can I adjust margins when printing from my computer?

When I print from my laptop to the copier the margins are uneven from one side to another. less than and 1/8" on one side and over a 1/4" on the other, but they are perfect in the document itself that is being printed. Is there a way i can adjust them?

Can you try the following please, turn the paper feeding from the tray in question in the opposite edge feed and try the same file again.
Robbie, is possibly on the right lines. I've seen the tray alignment out of adjustment before. The gear system has jumped a tooth under the media plate. This can be checked by putting some A3 paper in the tray. Once you know the paper is aligned you can then investigate further. Don't forget to check a document from the document scanner, that should be correct from manufacture.
I'm only familiar with A Size paper, but the ratios so remain the same.
Good luck.

I never heard of any printer that might adjust margins like that... but if we're talking of hardly 1/8" difference, are you sure the feed guides are set to a firm running fit, please?

Are you sure the printer drivers are the latest version for your OS?

Has this happened from new, or did something change, please?

Best,
Robbie

Why won't the printer print .5" margin on the side

1. The side guides of the paper tray are adjustable and should be snug to the edges of the paper. To loose and things can begin to shift.
2. Are you using letter sized paper or A4. Your print driver and word processing program need to know this.
3. The driver and processing program have margin adjustments within them. They are usually good by default but perhaps another user was in there and changed things.
4. Is the print job specked for the correct orientation....portrait or landscape and is the paper loaded the same.

Hi

By spacing, I assume you mean the margins at the centre.

The default margin settings are not the same for the right and left hand side of the page, so the printing on the reverse side is offset from the printing on the first side.

The right margin is always wider to allow for punch holes in file paper.

It is not the printer settings you need to adjust, it is the page layout of your word processing software.

Adjust the margin settings manually. In MS Office 2007:

Page Layout > Margins > Mirrored Margins.

Hope this helps.

It could be the rollers, try updating the firmware firstly, Sometimes the firmware will cause alignment and print quality issues. If that doesn't fix the problem, contact hp for a list of ASP's. 1800-334-5144

E-mails won't print the last few words on the right side.

Your margins need to be adjusted. Do a print preview. You should see the margins. Click on the right hand margin and drag it over to the right until the rest of your document shows up on the screen. If you print it then it should be fine.

Envelope margin error

have you adjusted the page setup on your software?
I'm assuming you're using Word to print a mail merge. yes?

Check that the margins are setup properly in the "word document"
Go undetr file, page setup, and confirm the envelope size is set properly.
Check the page setup in the printing preferences.
File, Print, Printing Preferences.

The printer accepts whatever margins microsoft word tells it to use.

Best wishes
