Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

While I'm laminating, the roller stops turning. I have to manually turn it. It works for another foot or so, then stops again.

Do you know why the laminator would be doing this?

It sounds like a broken tooth in the roller gear. It advances about the same as the diameter of that roller. Best just replace it.

My GBC ultima 65 laminator is making loud noises. How do i fix this?

You probably have 1 or more heat roller bearings seizing up. This is a common problem. There are 2 on the left and 2 on the right. I would recommend changing both of the bearings on the side that is noisy. They can eventually stop turning and then your laminator will probably stop also.

I jammed the laminating machine, so I unscrewed and opened the machine...but now I don't know how to roll out the paper? Please help me find a way to take this out without breaking the machine!

Carefully try to turn the roller one direction and then the next. If they move, you will see the feed direction the paper loaded from. Carefully move the rollers in the opposite direction letting the paper unwind. Do not force the gears. Hopefully the paper is not fused to the rollers.

Laminate did not come out it just went back inside on roller

warm the machine back up, get the glue sticky again, then work it off, either by going in forward or reverse, whichever works best for the given situation. Don't use anything sharp as the rollers damage easily....very expensive

Rollers will not turn

Read page 8 of your manual (http://accoblobstorageus.blob.core.windows.net/literature/5edb3f90-058f-49a6-a41d-ccfd96850992.pdf).

Are C, D and E in place(page 14 of the manual)? Interlocks prevent anything from operating if these parts are not properly in position.

Are you sure the screwed up film is all out and new film installed correctly(page 34 of the manual)? Use a flashlight to peek in the corners!

Are the rollers sticky or sticking to each other? If so, you're done.

Are the supply rolls (page 22) turning freely? If not, replace them.

Do the rollers run in reverse when you hold down that button (page 12)? If not, something is really out of whack.

If still in trouble, call for service.

This is one of the most complicated laminators I've ever seen ... must be a good one ... but personally I wouldn't let any one touch it until they've read the manual cover to cover and promise on pain of separation from service to follow ALL the rules in regard to setup, operation and maintenance. ^_^

Laminator squeals

The paper is fed into the laminator by rollers usually a top and bottom, one of them is usually made of silicone(rubber) check to see if tose rollers are turning, you may have to pull some covers off to see the rollers, but usually you can look in the throat where the paper is fed in and see these rollers with a flashlite. Not sure of the brand, big or small laminator, good luck. If rollers are not turning, some are belt driven, some are motor driven, could even be a control board or switch.

Presser foot stopped working I turned

Did you connect your machine then press the foot control before you lowered you presser foot? I have a CS6000 and that is what E1 means on my machine. You did not put your model number in so I don't know. You can look in your manual or go online to www.brother-usa.com and look it up for your machine. Try unplugging and plugging it in again, but put your presser foot down then step on your foot pedal.
