Question about Samsung Televison & Video
I have a Samsung HL-s6167w DLP TV that does not want to turn/remain on. If there are no live connections (cable, game system, ect.) it will occasionally turn on, to the "No input found" screen. As soon as any input is turned on though it will shut itself off and flash all three front lights. Prior to this, both color and brightness seemed fine. I replaced the lamp once about 7 months ago. I've already pulled it apart once and I can't see anything wrong with either the lamp or colorwheel. However, for a long while it has had a very faint whining whir, like a thin metal wire pressed against fan blades (though this doesn't coincide with either of the fans running). From what I can find it seems like my colorwheel's bearings might have gone, can anyone confirm this?

That whining whir sound you hear is most likely the color wheel bearings. You can spin it by hand & listen very carefully, if you hear any noise from it, replace it.

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.
