Need factory settings aspire 5920

Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operating, registry problems, virus problems, spyware issues and more. And a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

1.Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive

2.Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop by opening your Start menu and selecting "Shut Down" from the options for shutting down and restarting windows.

3.Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer.

4.Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop.

5.Press "Alt + F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

6.Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window.

7.Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration.

8.Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop.

9.Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

HP1740 does not react anymore on switching on. Is there a way to open the monitor to check connections? Is there a fuse that could be dead?

It will more likely to be bad caps with bulging top in the power supply section, that is the first place to look, just open the case up using thin flat blade screw driver starting at the bottom edgs of the case, just make sure to remove all the screws and the base first. See example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see so we can guide you further.

Restore back to factory settings

If the computer will boot into windows you can choose this option from the Acer E-Recovery management software.  If it will not then use alt+f10 during the boot.

How do I get the built-in speakers to work

Are you absolutly sure that it has speakers? If you're absolutly sure it does, there should be a 3.5mm audio in jack on the back or bottom of the monitor. It will look somewhat like a headphone jack, just like the ones you see on ipods (same size), although it may be green. You need a cable with a 3.5mm jack on either end.

Acer laptop restore factory settings?

If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of select Restore System to Factory Default.

If windows is not working but the system boots -
Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.
