Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

How can I get vocal harmony to work on my TYROS 5-76 Yamaha workstation, without using ACMP or LEFT button? I just want to sing into the mic and have the selected VH type come out.

SOURCE: Vocals disappear in parts using this mic

It is very common to have the squelch on the receiver set at full or much too high. With the audio output unplugged or at least turned all the way down, and with the transmitter turned off, locate the squelch control - you may need a screwdriver depending on which model of receiver you have. Turn the squelch control counter-clockwise until the TX light turns on, then turn it back up just past the point where it turns back off.
If you turn it all the way down and the TX light doesn't come on, that's okay. If you get blasts of noise occasionally when the transmitter is turned off, then set the squelch a little (only a little) higher until it stops.

SOURCE: vocal problem

hi there..if there is video and background audio coming out from the TV, and no voice recognition from the mic- then mic is the problem. I believed the problem is the "voice coil". This is a part that can be replaced- you can contact me and we can repair that.

two ways to check
remove the mic ball
the part which the mic ball is is covering is the voice coil.
try holding both terminals (black and white wire)- if there is feedback sound- it is open and need to be replaced
try using your tester- test the impedance- there should be 500- 600 ohms reading

SOURCE: NO BACKGOUND VOCALS

Hi im joe,
Regarding your concern the ET 3000 magic sing does not have background vocals at all. The manufacturer design the magic sing for sing along purposes only but they are now improving there future products to have that feature with background vocals.

SOURCE: i dropped it.silly me!not working.also i was using

If its really broken then you will need some help by a service engineer or perhaps someone with good diy mic know how can help .. On the vocal question, small and large condensers can be used but at the typical close miking distance of voice a pop shield needs to be used..This will ensure pops[ horrid bbooobbwww!! type noises from breath/wind hitting the capsule..proper name is plosives ] also the pop shoild will protect the capsule from spit etc etc.. You can make a pop shield [ a good one ] with tights and a coat hanger..google DIY pop shield or something..or buy one.. Oh and small diaphram condensers are rarely used for vocals but are capable of good results depending on source/room/placement etc.. Hope you get the mic working soon..got a garantee ???

I want to add orchestral backing to song

Build the orchestral as a MIDI file and then merge your song and send back to the Tyros to perform it. Building on an external machine you will find is easier than trying to do it all on the Tyros.

Using a Tascam US 122 with Cubase SX, when recording vocals red light (clipping) on the Tascam and in the Cubase mixer, I need to know how to set levels on Tascam, so there will be no clipping on vocal...

Make sure the switch is set to "mic/line" and not "guitar"
Your input level will be set by the "input L" or "input R" knob, depending on which side you are using. Start with them all the way down and then sing into the mic, turning them up until you get a signal about halfway up the bar in Cubase. That should give you plenty of headroom for clean vocals.
It may be difficult to get a good sound if you have one of those cheap mics that has a "1/4" jack instead of a 3-pin XLR jack. You might want to go to your local music/pro audio store and invest in a "condenser" microphone, which is good for vocals in the studio.

How can I get a professional sound out of my vocals; what I'm trying to say is how do I edit my vocals to get that studio effect or what ever, like all of that panning and equalizing business and so...

first, you need a hugh quality studio mic or a seinheiser, sure sm 58s and cheaper mics sould muffled compared to real studio mics.

whatever mic you have, the key to the studio sound os overtracking. record your vocals, singing exactly the same, 2 times, and pan 1 take to the right, and another to the left. this will give it as chorus effect.

then, use an eq to drop everything below 500 hertz about 20 decibels or so, thios will make it cut above the pusic and sound clearer.
after this, you can add effects such as delay, reverb and maybe chorus, but too much effects will muddy the sound.

I want to record vocal voice trhought mic on psr 9000

You could record short "samples" to be used in building new voices, however, it does NOT appear that you can record a vocal song with the PSR9000. The Tyros II and III have the capability to record vocals but the PSR9000 and Tyros I do not..

When playing back an arrangement, you can re-sing the song and have the vocal harmonizer track the arrangement.

My tyros 2 has fallen down very bad.now the left bass octave is off pitch(half note Higher) when i play the keybord with the accompaniaments. It works right ONLY when the ACMP is disambled what can i do....

Likely you have damaged the pitch bending wheel and offset it.

Try to pull it on pitch with the wheel... IF YOU CAN, then the alignment of the detent of the wheel has been disturbed and unit will need servicing... There are a lot of screws to open this and several very tender cables that can be damaged... I would recommend you take it to a shop experienced on this keyboard.

Distortion within a certain frequency range for wireless mics on magic sing 11000

Because of the very wide dynamic range of the human voice, specially when singing, the microphone you use, needs to be smart(usually expensive) to do the job properly. When going cordless, the electronics needs to be even smarter. A windscreen will not solve the problem.
I do not know of ANY low-cost radio mic that would not frustrate you for ever and a day. Rather spend a little more and be happy.
If allowed, I can introduce you to a very budget tipe entry level radio mic, that would work much better: Beyerdynamic OPUS 168 mk2 This mic works on a diversity UHF frequancy that receives a very clear signal for at least 100 feet. It also works with a "compander" , that improves the dynamic range. You will propably pay about $300 for it, but it will last lots of years with much less frustations. Sorry, there is no inexpensive way out on this one. PA Master
