This depends what type of battery you are using, you have standard batteries, than you can buy professional type of batteries, they are a little better than the standard one you buy at the store.
the next step is rechargeable batteries there are to types Ni-Cd or
Ni-MH. if you unit is 9 volts there is a battery that is for smoke alarms and fire protection that have a 10year life but i do not know if it is available in AA or AAA versions i dont see why not
you need to look up batteryplus website go and talk with a battery rep
so they can help you further.
you mite check out the manufactures website go to service, look under FAQ, troubleshooting section if they have one, see if there is any recalls on your unit
