It says the grounds can be installed anywhere??? how??

Ground wires should be connected to the ground bar.
Neutral wires are connected to the neutral bar.

Locations with a single electrical panel / service usually have the neutral bar bonded to ground and ground and neutral wires are connected to the same bar. Some have two bars that are connected together electrically to form a single bar. You'll see ground and neutral wires connected to the same bar.

Secondary panels in these locations (home with a second panel in a garage, in-law apartment, etc.) must have separate bars and at no time shall a ground wire be connected to a neutral bar or a neutral wire be connected to a ground bar.

Wiring a Westinghouse 3way speed switch.

Three way Switch installation; One cable has two wires plus a bare copper grounding wire, The other cable has three wires plus a ground.
1. Connect the black wire from the two-wire cable to the dark common screw terminal. 2. Connect the red and black wires from the three-wire cable to the traveler screw terminals. 3. Join the white neutral wires together with a wire connector and pigtail the grounding wires to the grounded metal box. 4. When the switch lies at the end of the circuit one cable enters the box. 5. The cable has a black wire, red wire, and white wire, plus a bare copper grounding wire. 6. Connect the black wire to the dark common screw terminal. 7. Connect the white and red wires to the two traveler screw terminals and the bare copper grounding wire to the grounded metal box.
I hope this help.

Old electrical box has 3 black wires. new device has 4 colored wires (white, red, green-ground, black - hot), the box does not have a ground wire (that I can see) and the old device only had three wires. ...

Early installations grounded the neutral line at the transformer, but did not bring in a direct ground wire as required for modern installations. White is neutral and should be connected back to the transformer secondary center tap. You will need to drive an 8-foot grounding rod near the panel and bring the ground connection into the box grounding bar (tied directly to the box as opposed to the neutral bar which is insulated from the box). Red and black wires are for 220 volt connections back to the transformer and feed each breaker on that particular rail with 110 volts. Any dual 220 volt breaker will contact both vertical rails. Each light and outlet in the house should have a ground connection, a neutral connection, and a 110 volt connection. Always place a switch to interrupt the 110 volt connection, not the neutral connection. You will likely need to measure the voltage across the suspected two hot wires to confirm the incoming 220 volt lines. Hope this helps!

Do you have a wiring diagram for a 50 amp male plug using 6-3 wire?

The configuration of the plug may vary by design but the way it is wired is the same no matter the plug configuration. Using 6/3 wire with no neutral white wire you simply connect the the Green ground to the ground on the male plug and the black and red wires to the other two plugs. Does not matter which. The is a 3 prong male plug. If you are using 6/3 with ground then connect the ground to the green ground plug, the white the direct opposite side as the ground and the red & black to the X & Y plugs, either one. This is a 4 prong male plug. If you are using a NEMA locking plug the lug that is bent is the ground. Connect the green ground wire there and the two other wires to the other lugs. Does not matter which one as each is carrying 120 volts. Look at the photo below. The plug on the left is a typical 3 prong plug. Notice the ground is connected to the top U shaped ground connection. The remaining 2 hots are connected to the two other lugs. On the right you see a 4 prong plug. You have the extra lug for the neutral. 9e28e8d.png

3 prong connection to fusebox using hot wire, neutral wire, and ground wire. I know the hot wire and neutral wire connect to the circuit breaker, but I'm unsure about the grounding connection.

There will be a ground log/screw somewhere in the panel box. The ground wire goes to that.

If you see other bare wires going to a screw in type attatchment that is mounted to the panle box without insulators, that is the ground mount.

Running 10/3 wire and wiring clothes dryer directly. The dryer does not have a ground connect for the bare copper ground. Can it be connected to the white neutral at the dryer?

NO!! use the green screw on back where cabinet ground goes red to red white to white black to black remove cabinet ground wire and connect it up to white neutral on dryer connect bare ground to cabinet ground screw ..but wouldn't it be better to connect wall plug to house wiring and correct cord to dryer? always hate working on hard wired equipment since a lot of breakers are never labeled or relabeled correctly
