Programming procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

You never should change anything to a device you want to control with a remote. The remote should be setup, to send the correct code for the deice. Be aware most universal remotes can't send all the codes the device is working with Most of the time only on / off and switching channels will work. For other things you need the remote of the device. In your case the Apex remote.

You can find a list of supported devices codes for your RM24914 and other GE remotes that require a 4 digit code, here. (a list of device codes for use with GE universal remotes that require a 3 digit code can be found here instead). Additionally, the user manual for the RM24914 can be found here. You will need to download a free program called Adobe Reader to view these files.
I hope this helps and good luck. please rate my reply. Thank you.
