Relay?? I've never seen a guitar or bass amp with "speaker protection relays"...usually they're either on or off. Check the simple stuff 1st...is speaker cable from head to cabinet and/or the input cable from bass to the amp good? Check the "Direct Out" for a line level signal (must be connected to a PA or other amplifier) as this is your preamp out signal. Also, plug a shielded cable from "Effects Send" to "Effects Return"...this will verify "effects" loop issues if any. Lastly, vibration test...use a clenched fist across the top, sides and bottom of wood cabinet to lightly "jar" the internal circuits. If it starts working even for an instant, I would suspect intermittent connection inside.

My DL4 doesn't sound as it should in my series fx loop. Is there any way possible to solve this problem WITH OUT putting it directly into the amps input? I need help!!! I play my amp wich is class A...

your parallel loop only has input, a series has out and in, you need to patch the out of amp to the in of the pedal, and out of the pedal to the in of the amp fx loop. then you need to make sure your loop is turned on, via switch or footpedal.

How To Use The effect Loop?

The effect loop is to use exteernal effect module... It is NOT to use guitar pedals !!!! The signals are line levels, NOT guitar type levels. An example of a device might be an Alesis Quadraverb. You take the effect send jack and run it into the inout of the effects module and the output of the effects module into the effects return jack. Many try to use guitar pedals and massive distortion results because levels are too high for the pedals.

Hi , i have a Bugera 1960 and my problem is send-return...when i put my boss ge-7 equalizer in it i can t hear the fx and this is the same thing for my delay pedal...i can hear but realy realy little...

The problem is the BOSS is designed to handle a guitar level at -20Db and the effects level is designed to run at either -10 Db or +4 Db. You will get better match setting the Bugerra effects to the -10 setting on the back and reducing the level... HOWEVER the pedal will want to send -20Db out which is 10 Db under what the effects return wants to see. This is a factor of three roughly in gain so the signal will be low. This is the problem using a guitar pedal in a way it wasn't designed to be used. The effects loops are looking for "line level" NOT guitar levels.

Schematics aren't going to help. The normal thing is to connect your guitar to the pedal and send the output of the pedal to the amp.

Guess what? The same things apply to your delay pedal... they are intended to accept the signal from the guitar OR the guitar like level from another pedal such as the GE7.

I have an SWR workingpro 2x10c combo solid state amp. When running a signal into the standard input with all pots set at 12 o clock, the signal sounds very distorted. I have tried a basic troubleshoot,...

You haven't told us what "signal" you ran in... Make sure ALL interconnected equipment is powered from the same receptacle. All audio lines should use balanced interconnects where possible using XLR or TRS cables. Cross connect another amps preamp into the effect loop input to check the power amp portion.

The loop and the manual tone store functionality !

Usually the loop in is used with an EXTERNAL effects module where the audio signal is "looped" out through the external effect module and then back to the power amp to drive the speaker in the cabinet. The LOOP IN jack would receive signal from the EFFECTS module OUT jack.

The source to go TO the effects module INPUT may come from a jack such as preamp out, or sometimes the same loop jack if it usess the TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) connection method.

If you do not have an external effects module, all this is a moot point in your case.

I have a brand new fender deluxe combo amp is the preamp in and out usable for an effects loop

Yes you could do that. The preamp output is just a BUFFERED output of the signal sent to the power amp. And the power amp input jack is BUFFERED before driving the power amp. These impedances are neither high or low being in the 1K to 3K ohm range.

The jacks for BOTH are mono jacks so noise pickup is possible if long cables are used. The external effects unit should be well grounded and operate off the same receptacle as your Fender for system safety. Use SHORT audio cables to minimize noise.

ALL the signal will pass through the effects unit when used this way... HOWEVER the internal reverb will still be in this path. You can kill this by turning the reverb control to zero on the Fender.

No sound unless a plug is partially inserted into the effects loop jack.

The switch that is a part of the effects loop jack is making poor contact.

Open the unit and ALSO check the soldering of the jack pins.

MANY of these have a contact as part of the strip that contacts the plug. This spring strip often gets weakened and doesn't contact the metal contact below. The contact "forwards" the preamp to the power amplifier. If the contact doesn't quite make, no power will get to the power amp. If the jack is bad, you MIGHT also try a jumper plug. You MIGHT be able to bend the contact to get moore force as a repair.

If it is a mono 1/4 jack, then use a short jumper from the FX send to the return is another non-invasive fix..

IF it is a TRS type effects loop, plug in a plug that has the Tip and the Ring jumpered in the plug as a quick fix.

In general the jacks in these guitar amps are JUNK !!!

The correct order for Effects pedals.

Personally, I like to have all "tone effects", such as wahs, distortions and equalizers in front of "time effects" such as phasers, chorus, flangers and delays. See my set up in the photo. Guitar input is from right to left, starting with the wah pedal.
