The pilot will not come on when i try to ignite it

Check pilot is clean and strong Also check sensor is clean and connections are clean and tight .

Generally, if a RV water heater is self igniting, then it is not designed to be lit manually. If you remove the outside vent cover door, then the unit can be observed. The self igniter should be visible at a point of where the pilot light is located. The problem with trying to light the water heater manually is that the circuit that activates the igniter also turns on the gas at the same time. If the igniter is not getting power, then most likely the valve to turn on the gas is not getting power either. If the problem is that the igniter itself has failed, then it may be possible, but unlikely, that with someone inside activating the turn on switch and a flame being applied to the pilot light area, at the same time, the pilot may light.

If your getting a spark the generator should be ok I would clean the pilot injector and re try

may need a thermo couple small copper tube screws in by the pilot lite

It could be that the gap for the igniter is too big Try lighting it manually There should not be that much air in the line .

Pull out sparking rod and lightly polish with fine steel wool. then put back together. Could be in control box but I doubt it. You will probably see mild corrosion on rod.

if you know how turn off the gas try to clean it
first then turn the gas back on

no gas is getting to pilot light. if all else fails change thermal coupling, if this is bad no gas will come out.
