Question about Pride Legend 3 Wheel Mid-Size Scooter

1 Answer

I have to disconnect the battery charger harness connector to onboard connector before the mobility scooter can go. If I press the throttle, the scooter won't go

Unless I disconnect the battery charger connector from the inboard connector. This is without the power chord being plugged in.

This sounds like a controller fault which will need a diagnostic box plugged into see fault or re-programme.

if I understanding this correctly , you cannot use the scooter why it is being charged, there is a inhibit pin that stops the scooter from being used,
All scooters are designed this way.

My mobility scooter said batteries ok not charged for a while went for about a minute then stopped suddenly going over entrance to supermarket just completely shut Down thought batteries were gone but they...

Since this is a scooter you take apart you probably had an intermittent connection at the place where the 2 sections join. A few scenarios. 1. You may not have latched the 2 sections and they momentarily separated causing a disconnect resulting in a power failure. 2. The connectors are fitting loosely and the jolt caused a momentary disconnect resulting in the power failure. 3. You may have a connector in the circuit that has come loose and from the jolt you had a momentary disconnect. You need to make sure all connectors are securely clasped. 4. Check your battery terminal connections, sometimes they become loose and a jolt will do the same thing. If you find that the connector at the place where the two sections come together, you will have to replace the needed wiring harnesses to correct this problem.. A local service tech should be able to quickly find the problem.

PRIDE MOBILITY 3 WHEEL SCOOTER FAILS TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACK

Hi. This is just a thought but have you tried putting the batteries back on the scooter and putting a volt meter on the batteries to get a reading when the lever is pressed on the scooter. Batteries can display as being fully charged (+12 volts) but often fail under load, meaning that as soon as you press the lever, the voltage will drop right off. If this happens, it is more than likely that your batteries are to blame.
Hope this helps.

My pride go go elite traveler 4 wheel stops randomly often with no beeps. I have replaced the throttle, the speed pot, the brake, and the batteries check out fine.

You may have a loose connection at one of the harnesses or connectors. If there are no codes you may have a bad controller or loose connection at the controller. Slow speed problems may be motor or motor brush problems you can diagnose by visual inspection or a voltmeter. Load test the new batteries and the charger output. Block it up and run it checking and knocking all the components until it quits. I have seen a dragging brake caused by a melted controller harness at the controller connector cause a similar problem. Hope this helps.

Problem with mobility scooter

Take the batteries down to a battery shop and have them load tested. Make absolutely sure they are DEEP CYCLE batteries. My 35a\h batteries put out 480 cranking amps. The battery shop can also test your charger. I have two chargers for my scooter the 4amp charger that came built into the chair, and a really nice three stage 5amp external charger. My scooters batteries have two 50amp quick disconnect connectors. I made up an external harness for the 5amp charger with the same connectors. I can now charge up my batteries out of the scooter. They say my built in charger is a 4amp charger, its slow in comparison to the 5amp charger. Batteries are expensive, regular chargers charge at one rate, full speed and can overcharge a battery. A three stage charger is by far way batter on your batteries. When you start to charge a depleted battery it put out full 5amps but as the battery nears being charged the charger backs off the amperage. When the battery is fully charged the charger goes into float mode and put out just enough amperage to maintain the charge. When i'm not using my scooter i keep the batteries connected to this charger. Deep cycle glass mat batteries don't stay charged very long when just sitting around. In about six months a dead battery will sulfate to the point where it will no longer take a charge. That happened to me once and cost me $200, never again will this happen to me. Battery shops are great places they have the instruments to tell you everything you need to know about the batteries. The batteries are the heart of your scooter unless you know there condition all kinds of strange things can happen. To make sure my batteries were good i have them checked against a known good set of batteries. BTW- Cranking amp is measured by putting a load on battery and increasing that load until the voltage falls off. At the point just before that voltage drop they measure the amperage output, that is you're cranking amps

I need a battery connector for the charger; the connector is broken connecting the charger to scooter

Try Monsterscooterparts.com. make sure you go to the mobility medical dept. as they carry stuff for ATV's, and the scooters that kids ride on, pretty much anything that comes out of China electronically they will have the wiring harness you need. You may have to buy new batteries if it has not been kept up with charging.

Scooter batteries will not charge. Green light on charger comes on briefly and fan tarts momentarily. Does green/yellow flash mean disconnection as indicated on the charger?

ok, this could be a dodgy connection with the batteries or the charger is at fault ?

1. try another charger
2. check the batteries if possible on another scooter.

3. check the connection on the battery and the charge socket connector.
