Hi Diane michalski, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

I assume you tried wiggling it from side to side, up and down, etc. ? It got in somehow and you need to reverse the exact angle in went in.

THis solution I copied from another post. It worked for me as well
First you need to open the printer. Unplug from power. Then lift the scanning device, you can partially remove it when pushing the "hooks" close to where the lid is connected (careful with the cable connections). Then remove three screws in the cover of the bottom part and with some fiddling around you can remove the cover. Again be careful with the cable connections. Of course don't do it if you are worried about warranty or breaking the printer.
The plastic strip has slits at each side to attach to the inside back of printer, on the left side is a down ward facing arrow, the plastic strip feeds through the back middle of the cartridge carrier and then the slits are to be inserted to the metal tab like pieces on the back sides inside the printer on the right side (facing printer) it will look like a small rectangular hole with a longer metal tab like piece sticking out & on the left is a smaller squared like hole with a flat smaller metal like tab which will line up if the plastic strip is feed through the back of the cartridge carrier properly. This should allow the cartridge carrier to glide properly & work as it should, with no more banging.

1 Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds. Then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.
2 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Continue to step 3.
3 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Insert the color cartridge, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Repeat step 3 with another color cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to step 4.
No: Repeat step 3 and install the black/photo cartridge. If both cartridges are installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Remove the color cartridge and insert the black/photo cartridge. Then close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Repeat step 4 with another black/photo cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Install the color cartridge. If the printer fails, continue to Contacting Lexmark. If the error message does not appear with both cartridges installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Replaced the ink. black works colored does not.

Normally, new catridge has a thin layer close the output of the ink. See that thing. If it close, pull it over, Or.
May be the catridge is not suitable with the printer.
May be the the catridge is quite old and the ink is dry, if it is refill catridge, put several drop of hot water in it.
Hope this may help.

E5 problem

E5, says the ink cartridges are the wrong type, not properly installed, or not installed at all. You can't refill those without replacing the chip or resetting the chip. Many refilled cartridges just don't work...

Ink cartridges stuck after replacement

HP PSC 1350.

Very sensitive printer. Due to dust, the catrdges are getting stuck at right side. Please clean the steel roller where the catridges are rested. Clean it with nice cloth and if possible put 3-in-1 oil in that area only for the smooth flow of catridges in that steel stem or roller.

This might happen iif we are not installing the orignal and genuine catridges and there is a chance of ink gettng leaked onto the printer.

Kind advise is if the printer is old, please put an annual maintenace service contract with local authorized hp Printer Dealer which will solve your problem once for all.

have a nice and good working day.

Ink cartridge

The message seems to be saying that you have two black cartridges installed and therefore one of the colors is missing. Is that possible?
