Question about Maytag Washing Machines
It should have come with a manual which would include that level of detail. I have a lower drawer of my filing cabinet just for manuals and the other upper one for the usual bills, warranties, etc.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service

SOURCE: PF display on my maytag neptune
The poster who advised me to unplug the unit for about 5-10 minutes was likely right and I probably could have done that and been able to restart the cycle last night but I waited until this morning and just selected "rinse" and pushed start. The door locked, then unlocked and the cycle stopped... BUT... then it started draining & finished correctly.
Chrf's assistance was definitely helpful- wish I'd been up at 0330 to try it because waiting all night for it to 'rest' on its own certainly messed up the clothing situation for my boys this morning!!
great website- thanks for being here!

This worked for me for the E3 error code: Turn the machine off and then on. Enter the Service Mode by pressing the Chime and Exrta Rinse keys for 3 sec. Display the Diagnostic Codes by pressing the Rinse and Spin key. Clear the codes by pressing the Delay and Chime keys for 3 sec. Turn the machine off, unplug and plug in the power cord. This dumps the memory. Evidently, if it gets full, it causes problems with the programming and messes up the cycles.

Open the soap dispenser. Look down in front of the fabric softener dish.
You should see a yellowy-green plastic cord (like weed-whacker line). Pull it.
The door should open.
If you don't see the cord, remove the four screws that hold the dispenser lid in place to find it. Just don't lose it when you put the cover back on.
