Have you tried de-thawing the freezer or inspecting the icemaker assembly for an obstruction? While it could be a mechanical problem, I have seen wedged objects (ice cubes) that lock up the gear driven assembly. If the ice cube trays are not getting water then you know it's a problem with the valve or water supply. Even a clogged water filter can obstruct the flow of water to the valve as well as mineral deposits. The icemaker assembly and control valve are about $70 each, so you want to make sure you know what the problem is exactly.

If ice maker is running complete cycle but not filling with water you may have a bad inlet valve which is located on the back of the refrigerator. It will be the plastic part the house water line connects to. Another possibility is that the house line got blocked somehow. 3rd possibility, is if the icemaker is already full of ice and not dispensing the cubes out of the icemaker. This may be caused by the icemaker itself. There is a heater imbedded in the bottom of the icemaker that comes on and releases the cubes when it is time to dump them. That heater could be bad. That's 3 things to check.

Ice maker stopped dispensing

Refrigerator - Icemaker Not Dispensing,or Not Making Ice Check that the feeler arm on the icemaker is in the down position and is not blocked. If the icemaker does not have a feeler arm make sure the icemaker paddle is not blocked under the icemaker. For more information on the causes of new icemakers not making ice. For more information on normal ice production. Side by Side models: The filter may be loaded with sediment that can cause low water pressure. The water pressure must be between 40 and 120 psi. Pressures below 40 psi may cause a malfunction of the icemaker (i.e. producing hollow cubes or no ice production). Test the water pressure: Dispense water from the dispenser into a large measuring cup for 20 seconds. If the measuring cup contains less than 13.5 ounces (400 metric centimeters), the water flow is inadequate. If the amount of water is less than 13.5 ounces then the refrigerator fails the test, remove the filter and test the refrigerator again with the by-pass plug in place. If the refrigerator dispenses the proper amount of water with the by-pass plug in place, then the filter should be replaced. If you no longer have the by-pass plug and it has been over three months since the filter has been replaced, you should replace the filter. If the refrigerator fails the test again and you know you have the proper water pressure in your home, you should call service to check the refrigerator. If the amount of water collected is over 13.5 ounces then the refrigerator passes the test and the dispenser is working correctly. Ice not Dispensing Due To Clumping Ice: Your dispenser may not be dispensing due to clumping ice cubes. The ice cubes in your icemaker may be clumping for a couple of reasons: Low food load: The defrost cycle radiates heat into the freezer. The ice in the freezer will naturally absorb the heat. This will cause the ice to melt slightly during defrost, then eventually freeze together in clumps. Increasing the food load in the freezer will buffer the warmth from the defrost cycle and keeps the ice from melting. Lack of use: When the ice bin is full, the pressure from the weight of the cubes can cause the bottom cubes to fuse and clump. To prevent this from happening, discard the clumped ice and check the bin periodically to ensure the ice is not building up. If you do not use a large amount of ice, move the feeler arm on the icemaker to the up position to turn off the icemaker and stop ice production. For more information on the causes of clumping cubes. If the ice bucket is not seated correctly, ice will not dispense properly. Make sure the ice bucket is in the correct position. Refer to Use & Care manual.

Adjustable icemaker not making ice

Note that the temperature in the freezer must be below 10 degrees F for the icemaker to cycle. The icemaker line is the smaller line (1/4") located in the back of the machine that runs from the valve to the filll tube. To test the valve and icemaker you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. You can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked "M" and the other in the cicle marked "N". Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Before doing any of the above though check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.

I have an older fridge with the ice maker in the freezer, just dumps into tray below. Anywho, water leaks from the ice make everytime it fills into the pan below, making one giant junk of ice. Please...

you have to determine if its the icemaker mold that has a crack and therefore leaks, or if you water valve solenoid is not closing compeletly at the end of the cycle. to check this, turn the water supply off to the refrigerator, then lift the arm up to turn the icemaker off. wait 3-6 hours, in case it JUST cycled, turn the icemaker back on, and it should dump one last set of ice cubes. slowly pour 4-8 oz of water into the icemaker with a measuring cup. do you see that same drip? if you do, replace your icemaker, if you dont, replace your water valve.

ICE MAKER STOP MAKING ICE

not a whole lot of info to go on, so you'll have to check: your water filter if you have one; check the pressure of the water going into the fridge, you will h ave to disconnect to check; check the fill tube going into the icemaker, is it frozen/ if so, your solenoid is bad; does the icemaker cycle on its own?; are your temperatures good? if your freezer is above 15° F the icemaker wont cycle.

ICEMAKER WILL NOT DUMP ICE

I'm not making any promises. But after years of selling refrigerators, without having to call a tech...Make sure your freezer is at zero degrees, as the icemaker is activated by temp. not only time. Ice cream should be hard as a rock. Try setting your freezer colder; and don't do the human nature thing by checking every 30mins to see if it make ice. You'll just dump the cold air out. The bucket stays full of ice until the next cycle. That may be why it stalled.
Good Luck,
Jeff

Humm thats a good one, but I will try to help you out. First off you say the icemaker is new, so does that mean you bought the icemaker and installed it on the refrigerator. Or is the refrigerator new and it has an icemaker. If you installed the icemaker new on an older refrigerator you can have a few problems. Most likely the freezer is not getting cold enough for the icemaker to cycle on its own. Especially if you are peaking in every few minutes like I would be doing. The icemaker will start a new cycle when the temperatur hits 0 degrees. If the freezer is only getting to 5 degrees the icemaker will not cycle. In that case the problem would be with the refrigerator not the icemaker. If the freezer is getting to 0 degrees then you may want to take that icemaker back and get a replacement. Good luck and I hope I helped. mca0824@aol.com

Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck mca0824@aol.com

My whirpool side by side refrigerator/freezer won't make ice- what could be the problem

remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it
