Question about Computers & Internet
I reinstalled all usb drivers no luck.. like I said I reset usb 3.0&2.0 ports 3 hasn't worked since2.0 works,, ive tried everything I can find online nothing has fixed usb3.0. as for usb plug&play hasn't work for a while no luck with it either ,,any ideas???? the 3.0 ports still have power to them just not recognized..i don't see usbhci. any more even after re installing the driver for it..i will get my info that I,ve tried and what led up to them not working if I can think of it all and update this soon...I may completely erase comp and do a fresh install I don't know yet... I did a reset a month ago and did just remove my files and I think it carried over some issues from before but Ill update this post soon thanks. aspire v3-731 laptop with windows 8.1 upgraded from windows 8. also device manager shows no problems. I looked in system32 file today it seems all usb 3.0 files are compressed. I don't know how they got this way. I tried replacing them in windows but it wouldn't let me. noel I want to thank you for all your help..

I have the same problem with my Compaq Presario V2000. Lost both USB ports and HP tells me that the motherboard has to be replaced at $300 +..I searched and found a PCMCIA card with two USB ports for $10. No problems with the USB ports on this card..great and cheap solution.
My belief is that the compaq usb ports do not have power limiting circuitry therefore allowing you to overload the output power on the ports. My ports failed after I downloaded into a burglar alarm system I was programming.
