Question about Garden

1 Answer

Cannot push in clutch. When trying to start lawnmower, the clutch will not let you push it in.

When you sit on the seat and try to push on the clutch, it will not allow you to push it. The pulley underneath does have some play in it, but it seems to be around all the parts.

SOURCE: I Have a Craftsman 917.256. The engine will only

There is no way to guess at the problem, you'll have to use a meter and check the safety switches. Most likely there is a problem in the switch for the PTO, find the wire connector that attaches to the switch on the PTO and disconnect it.

If the unit works, then replace that switch

Murray riding lawnmower #309029X92 can't turn shaft, Won't even start,

Karen, try to spin the top of the engine by hand. it should rotate, if it don't check to see if the starter has locked into the flywheel. make sure the blades are disengaged the brake pedal is pushed in and you are sitting on the seat.

Can I push start a 2007 Honda 500

Hi Linda:
The short answer is yes.
I'll add a couple of extra comments.
- You can push it for ever and it won't start if it does not have fuel or spark. So, I;ll ask, Why do you want to push start it? If the battery is dead, or it won't hold a charge, that sounds like an appropriate fix.
- Push starting a bike can be dangerous. You have to consider that when the motor starts, the bike will want to accelerate, and probably rapidly. Know where you're planning on going if it starts.
- Technique.... It's easier to push a bike that's in neutral than when in gear with the clutch dragging, so the safe and easiest way to push start the bike is to have the ignition switch on, choke set where you think it should be, transmission in neutral, have a rider sit on the bike, and get it rolling downhill. The rider will then pull the clutch lever, put it into second gear, and let the clutch out at the same time as they drop their weight onto the seat. Tricky for a novice, but the weight drop helps to keep the back tire from sliding.
Think Safety!! If you're a novice rider, I would not recommend that you try this.

Doesnot start john deere electric start mower

simple things to ck first :
(1) battery - fastest way to test it is to jump start it
(2) safety's - with tractor off , turn key to first click , then try and engage the mower deck , you should hear a click , shift to 1st gear try again you should not hear click ,back to neutral then hold clutch down , try again you should hear click , all of this assumes your sitting in the operator seat when u try it , as the presence sensor only trips on human presence over 60 lbs if any of these tests does not produce the desired effect check that safety sensor , although ive found on JD's the seat switch is found bad allot

New......battery dead....will not pull start... does someone need to be sitting in seat?

Yes, you need someone in the seat and probably the clutch/brake pushed in to enable the engine to start.

Difficult to start -- bad kill switch?

You have 3 safety switches located on the tractor, any one of which can cause the tractor to not crank over.
I assume the deck lever is not engaged, you are sitting in the seat and you push the clutch down when trying to start?
Start by lifting the seat and disconnecting the seat switch, push the clutch in and try to start.
Start there and we'll go from there.
