Question about Sewing Machines

Open Question

Hi, I am looking for a loop (two parts) for my Allbook and Hashfield - Success (Industrial Fur Machine)

It has two loops, one is like a hook shape and one is like an L shape Note: Allbook and Hashfield is a British Company... BONIS is an American company.. it may be that both machines use the same parts??

Not to familiar with the industrial machines. However, even with domestic models. the position of the 'needle' bar at the time you remove your fabric, does make a difference as to weather it pulls our smoothly or, you are going to get that "extra" loop. Needle should be half way up or all the way. maybe this might help

Basic Tips for All

  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

Hi Jennifer:

Do you understand how a stitch is formed on a sewing machine? The needle goes down to its full down position. At that point the shuttle hook should be pointing right at the needle scarf, ready to go past it as the needle starts to go up.

When the needle starts its upward travel it forms a loop... the shuttle hook enters the loop and the bobbin thread is "captured" in that loop.

If your machine's timing is advanced, the needle will hit the hook and break or make nasty thumping noises. If your timing is ********.... the hook misses the loop entirely and does nothing.

So... open up the entire bobbin/throat plate area.... take the foot off so you can see. Clean if necessary. Then turn the hand wheel by hand until you see that the needle is at the lowest point of travel. Where is the shuttle hook?

From there you'll have to use your logic to find the right screws and adjust the hook.

Here' is a Parts Chart for your machine.

Good luck!

Make sure that the needle is inserted all the way up and is facing the correct way. Tighten the upper tension gradually until the stitches look even on top and bottom.

Tl98e broke a needle and now won't stop looping.

needle plate may be sanded lightly for nicks and scratches. Timing is probably off, need to see an expert repair service in your area.

Adjusting tension when stippling

Yes you should lower the feed dogs for free motion sewing. The tension can be set higher as required. A perfectly tuned up machine uses a setting of 5 but don't be afraid to go higher to get rid of the looping on the bottom.
Also, oil your hook every 8hrs with Pfaff hook oil (which is lighter weight than regular sewing machine oil) if you have it, otherwise use white sewing machine oil. Looping on the bottom can be caused by a dry hook.
good luck!
