I have to disagree with diagnosis, sorry. Black smoke is rich mixture of fuel, & blue/white is oil and/or coolant .

SOURCE: black smoke runs badly, fuel pressure regulator or temp sensor?

look for a vacuum leak. A large vacuum leak will do just what you described. I would listen for a leak first if you cant hear it and locate it then i would spray carb cleaner around the vacuum lines. If you have a leak it will pull the carb cleaner in and you will hear the engine rpm change.

Maybe the vehicle is flooding? Check vacuum line on fuel pressure regulator, where applicable, if it has gas in it, the fuel pressure regulator is faulty. Use a fuel pressure gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, with key off, see if pressure will hold for a bit? As long as no fuel pressure bleed-off passages in throttle body, the pressure should hold for a bit.
There could be other issues.

STARTING PROBLEM, WONT IDLE,BLACK SMOKE, ONCE STARTED IT SOUNDS ROGUTH

This problem is a bit more difficult to diagnose because half of your symptoms rule out half of the solutions. I would think the ISC control could be dirty or not working or your fuel injectors are sticking open.

With black exhaust smoke you are running rich. Often the "Cold start sequence" is at fault for poor starts making the engine too lean when the sequence fails. An intake air leak can cause the engine to run Rich, causing the black smoke, rough idle, rough running conditions. This is still a possibility, but the on-board computer usually sets a Code saying you are running "Lean" and then enriches the fuel ratio and floods the engine by itself.

Now the fuel injectors can cause several of your problems. For start-up problems, the remaining fuel pressure can dump fuel into the engine as the car sits because the injectors are sticking open. Someone would need to perform a fuel pressure bleed-down test to see if you have this problem.

Another way to verify this problem is to capture the oil during an oil change and smell it for gasoline fumes. The dilution of the oil will destroy the engine. If the injectors are found to be the problem, a new oil filter and change are needed.

Car is smoking when driving don't know what it is

Black smoke: Black smoke is often a result of too much fuel and not enough air in the combustion chamber. In rare cases, it can be weak fuel pressure causing fuel to 'drip' from injectors rather than 'spray'. It can also be caused by weak fire in the combustion chamber.

Gray smoke:
Gray smoke is caused by brake fluid. It generally means that your brake master cylinder is bad, and is getting sucked through the vacuum brake hose.

Blue smoke:
Blue smoke is generally caused by the burning of an oil in the combustion chamber. Normal causes of oil getting into the combustion chamber are weak piston rings, bad valve guides, bad valve seals, or plugged up engines where oil is sucked back through PCV system, usually due to lack of oil changes

I have a 2004 dodge ram 5.7 liter . O have difficulty starting my truck. Some times it starts fine but other rimes I have to pump the gas and wen it starts a small amount of smoke comes out.truck runs...

I have seen two different problems with symptoms like this. 1. A leaking injector. If one of the injectors is leaking a small amount through the pintle on the end of the injector it will bleed the fuel system presure off and dribble fuel into the cylinder, fouling that cylinder. When you try to start it the fuel that has pooled into the manifold will create smoke when it does start. And since the fuel pressure has bleed off to zero PSI in the fuel supply lines it will need time for the fuel pump to recover the system up to normal operating presure. Presure testing (bench test) of the injectors is needed to verify this. 2. A bad fuel pump, relief valve, or bleed-back check valve will bleed the fuel system presure off while it is sitting. To find out if this may be the problem a fuel presure guage set needs to be installed and then run the engine, verify the operating presure is normal, and then shut the engine down and watch the fuel pressure for exessive drop.

The leaking injector is more apt to create the smoke when it fires up, but both can cause this. I would start with check #2 first. Of course there are many other things that can cause symtoms like this but these 2 are the most likely causes.

Hope this helps, if you have any further questions just ask!

I have an F-350 Super Duty Diesel V8 2008 and we ran out of fuel. When we put diesel in it throws out black smoke. How do you check the Fuel pressure? It won't start and we just changed the fuel filters....

Make sure you fill the filters with fuel before you install them. then bleed the line at the fuel filter then move
on to the injectors
loosen the injector line to bleed it one at a time then crank it till no air is coming out tighten that line then do
the next one. . Dont use starting fluid to start it if you use any spray use wd40 for priming I havent worked on the new ones but the 7.3s will start that way

Fuel filter on picaso 2.0 litre diesal engine

Black smoke from a diesel engine does not mean you have to change the fuel filter. It is caused by the air filter being dirty. That you need to change.Anyway if you want to change the fuel filter it is located at the front middle of the engine in a black plastic round case with notches around the top.Good luck hope that was helpfull.
