This will not have hurt the AC wire - its limitations are current-based not voltage based. If you're lucky, you'll find a little fuse inside (usually the tubular glass tip with silver metal end caps) has blown. If you're not so lucky, the voltage converter has blown and needs to be replaced. Might cost more than just getting a new unit. Good luck!
