Question about Canon PIXMA iP90 InkJet Printer

Black is not printing after dropping my Canon ip90 printer. I changed the black cartridge. How can I fix this?

My printer fell onto the floor from the table, and when I tried to use it again, it said that the alignment was off. I ran the alignment program and it seemed to have resolved itself. However, when I print things out now, nothing is coming out of the black cartridge. I changed the cartridge and ran both the cleaning and deep cleaning functions. Also, I can't seem to get back to that alignment program to try it again. Where can I find it? Is there something else I can try to see if I can get the black channel to work again? For now I am printing on "composite" and it looks awful.

How long did you leave the printer before you tried to use it again after it failed? has the ink dried in the jet head?

There should be a ribbon that feeds the jet head which controls the head itself, has it come loose?

Dropping any electronic equipment onto a floor can break motors damage bearings and loosen cable connections. the cost of replacing parts generally outweighs the cost of replacement. It may be that the unit is not economically repairable.

If your printer is successfully connected to your computer and printing in color you may have a printer hardware problem. You said that the printer software does not show a black cartridge? Have you changed cartridges lately, did the problem possibly start after changing the black cartridge?

Have you completely powered off the computer, including pulling the power cord from the printer to allow the printer software to reset itself.

When you clean the jets, did any black ink show on the printed test page after the cleaning?

Is it possible that you have a bad black ink cartridge or that the tab is still covering the ink jets on the black cartridge.

If none of these issues help solve the problem, you printer may need to be looked at by a qualified service technician.

Please let me know what you have done so far and I will attempt to help your further with more information.

New black ink cartridge won't print.


Clean the contacts with rubbing alchol. The contacts in the printer as well as on the cartridge. If that doesn't fix it contact the cartridge manufacturer and they should replace it.

Ip90 printer does not print blac on a test after


Sounds like the printhead is plugged on the black side. A new printhead is #qy6-0052-000 around $40.00. That model also needs a firmware update to help it clean the printhead better.

Canon IP90 portable . No ink printing.


Have you performed a nozzle test? If one or more of the colors is missing when you do the nozzle test, the printhead itself is likely in need of replacement.

Before considering replacment, perform a clean on the printer. Due to variations between mac and pc, please see your documentation / support files on how to perform the clean on your printer.

After performing the clean, again perform the nozzle check to see if the problem is resolved.

If still not resolved, remove and re-install any cartridges you recently replaced to make certain they are installed correctly.

Canon iP90 Printer Ink Issue


I have had the same issue with my iP90.  I think this results from the black ink nozzle becoming clogged.  I was able to get mine to print by cleaning the nozzles.To clean the print nozzles open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select the printer from the list of available printers and click the maintenance button.  Then, select a cleaning or deep cleaning cycle.

My ip90 Canon printer only prints in purple


Try selecting an option in the printing properties to print in grayscale or black and white (you usually only have either one or the other). This will utilise ONLY the black cartridge, the color will remain dormant which should make your prints come out in black and white - if not, your black cartridge, or the space between the bottom of the black cartridge and the paper is contaminated with color ink. Black printing


it could be a problem with your print head in the printer or the purge unit. printer head problem u can fix your self by ordering a new print head from your canon printer supplier. as for the purged unit u need to have the printer looked at by a canon service agent
