Hi Katherine, I would suggest turn off and unplug the DVD player. Now look for a small hole around the front of the disk tray, once you find the hole get a paper clip (or similar), and unfold it so you have a straight section. Insert the paper clip into the hole and gently push. That should release the DVD tray enough so that you can pull it out manually.

Panasonic DVD-S31 won't play sound

Did you change the audio cable, "just to rule out" If it won't work on the Tv or stereo, there probably is a audio processor problem, or a issue with the laser pickup assembly, to repair this kind of problem would not justify the cost.

CRX880A is a cd writer and DVD reader it doesn't record dvd only plays them

I have a bush dvd2039 and have put a dvd in and it won,t play and open and close won,t work either, have rebooted, unplugged and plugged back in and checked cables etc still nothing can you help please?

i take it your talking about a pc dvd burner if its not opening or closing i wouls say the cog/ruber band has broken you need to replace the driver (dvd burner)

If the "bad" disks work fine in some other DVD-player, then it's time to spend $40 and buy a new DVD-writer.

Or, if your current DVD-player is under the manufacturer's warranty, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced.

if the battery is new, you need to replace the IR in the remote control this is the bad parts thats why you can not operate.
