SOURCE: 2000 watt legacy predator amp

Disconnect all speaker wires from the amplifier's speaker terminals and disconnect the RCA cables from the amp. If the amp still goes into protect, it probably has shorted output transistors.

SOURCE: 2000 watt american legacy amp protection ligh wont go off

Same thing happened to me so I returned it for repair turns out it was an internal 25amp fuse on the output. Got it back an it sounded very weak now it does not play at all. Nothing wrong with my setup as I have now got an 800watt amp that is running great.

SOURCE: ok i have a hitron 2000 watt monoblock D class amp

theres a switch on you're hitron amplifier that'll say bridged or unbridged you wanna flip that switch while the amp and speakers are on and everything is hooked up but make sure you're bass is on minimum so you dont pop your subs once u flip that switch everything will work amazingly, the switch is between where your speaker wire is hooked up and where you have your power wire, you can't miss it.

Make sure that you are not over loading the amp. Example - if your amp is only rated for 8 ohm then you can not wire the speakers for a 4 ohm.

Need amp

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would be safe to use an amplifier slightly lower than the maximum rating of the speaker. In this particular case, 350 watts or lower would be just about right for each. If you are wiring the 2 subs in parallel and powering them with a single channel amp, then a 700 watt bridged would also work.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

I'm happy I can help a newbie. I remember when I was one and I'm happy to help you. First off, I nodiced that the fuse is only a 30 amp fuse. A quick way to see what is probably the max output of your amp is take the fuse value, in your case 30 and multiply it by the voltage you will be supplying it. Lets say you are just sitting with the car off the voltage would be 12ish volts. So your total assumed wattage is 360 watts. Which is an large amount less than the 1000watts listed. So watch out for that. Also, with subs you would want a mono-block class-d amplifier. If you need any more help at all, let me know. Good luck

8 ohm to 4 ohm

All you need to do is wire your 2 subs together in parallel. This means Hooking the positives of both subs together, as well as hooking both negatives together.

Your total resistance:

Rt = (R1 x R2) / (R1 + R2) = (8 x 8) / (8+8) = 4

Remember that driving a load with an underpowered amp will probably cause more problems than having a more powerful amp that is not running flat out. 200-300W amp would be ok, but I would suggest going for the biggest you can afford. If you crank up the volume on the smaller amp you will probably get a fair amount of distortion, which may actually damage the speakers. A larger amp will not give as much distortion for the same loudness/volume and give better control of the speakers for a tighter bass..
