Question about Karcher K2.360 16016810 1600 PSI Electric Pressure Washer

Open Question

I have a K2.360 model that leaks. It has some pressure but it keeps running when I release the trigger. The leak seems to come from the HP head.

SOURCE: Leaks from within when operated (not from hose connections).

If the motor runs continuously, rather than pulsing on and off, then this points to a major leak rather than a simple seal failure. If there's any possibility that the machine has been subject to frost, then part of the high pressure system may be split. This is not as bad as it sounds, as even replacing the whole cylinder head and control head assembly is not unduly expensive.
Having said that, I have seen one machine recently with this problem where the only thing wrong with it was that a joint between the pump head and the high pressure hose connector had simply come apart (shouldn't be possible, but it had).
If you need more help, please post again with details of the model number.

SOURCE: cycles, never builds up full pressure when trigger pulled

If you are sure it is not a bad o-ring and you have re-assembled it correctly then try this.

Part # 8 in the pump, karcher # 9.001-187.0 includes a small bullet shaped valve. It could be leaking. It can be carefully disassembled and cleaned.

When water is running through system, the motor has to run to keep the pressure built up. So, if the water is leaking out, the motor think it needs to keep running to keep the pressure built up. The leak needs to be fixed to the motor will not run constantly.

Charge air pro model ir330e20 builds pressure to only 60 psi and will not stop running

Cbillgreene:

Your compressor is leaking air somewhere between the compressor head and the tank. With the compressor running, feel carefully around the ends of the tube that leads from the compressor head to the air tank. You will probably feel some air leaking around one end or the other. If so... remove the tube and find out which packing has failed.

My electric Karcher pressure washer does not shut off.

this can be that you need to bleed the system of air or that there is a problem with your trigger gun sticking when you release the trigger.
These are two things I would check before you go into the machine.

I have a Bostitch N64C Siding Nailer. I have put a new trigger kit and o ring rebuild kit in it and still can't get it to fire. The plunger seems to just be floating about in the cylinder

Assuming no air leaks when you connect air to gun. Remove nails and remove roll pin holding trigger allowing access to pin of trigger valve. With very quick motion depress trigger pin all the way in. If the gun fires then most likely problem with safety and trigger not being pushed all the way up against valve pin. If the gun does not fire, most likely problem with headvalve orings not seating due to scratches where orings contact metal. Remove head and examing metal parts and sand with fine paper to remove scratches (400 grit to finish). Install headvalve into head with plenty of silicone paste lube and push headvalve down into head with thumbs. Cover venthole on sealing surface of head with finger and release thumb pressure. The headvalve should stay down in head with vacuum and release when you release finger on vent hole. If no vacuum then orings are not sealing and gun will not work correctly. Good holidays

You gave a very close solution yourself for the problem. But other leakages can cause such symtoms.Forexample a leaking head or a leaking chemical inlet. These can be caused because the spill valve (pressure control valve) is stuck. When this valve stucks it will leave a micro switch ON. So the machine keeps working with the gun closed. This will in turn creat internal pressure and damages the head, valves and chemical non-return and even damage outlet hose. So besides fixing the leakages you must check and service the spill valve. I often replace the spill valve. One must also checks if the micro switch is faulty. Now very important that what you mentioned that the machine cycles at one minute intervals, with trigger closed...this is most probably always the spill valve fault. If you open machine you see a place where there is a wire..this belongs to the micro switch...under you find the spill valve. Intake and suction valves may now also have a fault. Also there are systems with non-return valves at the machine outlet. You have to tackle by elimination. Fix the leakage..then tackle spill valve and micro switch.

No more then 30 pounds of presure and wont shut off. Flotec water

If the pressure does not get pass 30 psi, then check for leaks along the pipelines and on the tank itself. An air leak on the top portion of the tank can cause the pressure not to trigger the pressure switch. Use soap bubbles to detect any air leak. Although a stuck pressure is not more likely the problem, check it also.

The machine has a pressure leak. Check for a cracked controll head or either a leaking outlet elbow. The machine will short cycle if the holding pressure can not be maintained
