SOURCE: Graph feature is not working on TI-83

you have one of your stat plots on that is what is messing it up. So either turn off the stat plots. Or just reset your calculator. hit 2nd then the plus (+) key then 7 then 1 then 2. Good luck

SOURCE: How do I enter a quadratic equation into my calculator TI 89?

Hello,
What do you want to do with it? If you want just to enter it, you do so on the command line.
Here are exemples of solutions
Under [Mode][F2] exact/aprox set to exact
solve(x^2+x-5=0,x) finds the exact solutions the top ones

b255a8b.jpg
Under [MODE][F2] Exact/Aprox set to Approximate you get approximate numerical solutions, the bottom ones.
There is another command nSolve( which solves numerically for an equation. You can specify a range of values where solution is suspected to be.

Hope it helps

SOURCE: solving multiple non-linear equations

Type it like this: solve( equation1 and equation2 and moreEquations, {list of variables to solve for})

Put all of your equations right after the opening parenthesis separated by the word and, then a comma, then within curly braces each variable you want to solve for each separated by a comma.

How do I graph an equation with TI 89?

Just open the Y= equation editor and enter your equation. Use X for T. Make sure the angle unit is in radians.

I am trying to graph a least-squares line on my TI-84 Plus. I have the numbers correctly plugged into my Stat Edit tables, and I am able to access my linear equation, and the first time I entered my graph...

After you enter the data draw the SCATTER plot first.
When you perform the (linear) regression analysis LineReg, save the regression equation to a function, for example Y1
The syntax is
LineReg L1, L2, Y1 ENTER

From the Stat>CALC menu press LineReg
The command echoes on command line
Press [2nd][1] to enter the L1 list on command line
Press [,] to separate
Press [2nd] [2] to enter L2 on the command line
Press [,] the comma again
Press [VARS][>][Y-Vars][1~Function][1:Y1] [ENTER]
Press [GRAPH] to have the regression line equation drawn
on the same screen as the Scatter Plot you drew before.

I have a TI-84 plus calculator. I enter data into a table (L1 & L2) and go through the steps to get an equation for the data. Next, I should be able to press VARS, move to Y-VARS, select FUNCTION,...

Your assumption
--Next, I should be able to press VARS, move to Y-VARS, select FUNCTION, then select Y-1 and automatically enter the equation into Y-1.-
is not correct.

When you press [STAT[>][CALC][4:LinReg(ax+b)] or any other regression model, the command echoes on the main screen. If you press [ENTER] at this point, the calculator uses by default lists L1 and L2 and displays the resulting equation without copying it in a Y-variable.

If you want to have the equation copied on a Y-function, you should modify the command as follows
LineReg(ax+b) [SHIFT][1: L1] [,] SHIFT[2:L2] [,] [VARS][>:Y-Vars] [1:Function][1:Y-1][ENTER].

Here, [>] stands for RightArrow. For any other regression model, use the appropriate command.
At this point, the command line should look like the following:

LinReg(ax+b) L1, L2, Y1

Press [ENTER] to calculate you get the same screen as when you do not save the equation in Y1, but if you go to the Y= editor or press GRAPH, you will see the regression line superposed on the scatter plot.

I am trying to see 2 different tables on my table screen from 2 different equations, but it when i go to the screen, instead of showing 2 different tables, it only shows one of them. I also noticed that...

Hi,
In the Y= equation editor you can enter two functions, and graph them both or calculate a table for both. However, the two functions will be evaluated at the same values of X.

Rather than trying to guess what is happening, I will show you how to get your two tables.

If you have used one the applications Inequalz or Transform it si probably still stuck in memory, and you must unload it from the RAM before recovering the usual calculator behavio(u)r
  1. Press the [APPS] button, find Inequalz or Transform, point to it and click [ENTER].
  2. You will be asked to Continue or Quit the application.
  3. Press the number corresponding to Quit (usually 2).
  4. Press [2nd][Y=] (STAT PLOT). Press [4:PlotsOff][ENTER]
  5. Calculator replies Done.
Open the [Y=] equation editor. Type in your equations. Press [ENTER] at the end of each equation. Verify that the [=] signs after Y1, and Y2 remain highlighted when cursor is moved away from them.
Press [2nd][GRAPH] (Table) to see your 2 tables y1 and y2 calculated at the same X.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for rating the solution.

How do i enter 35 degrees 20 minutes into my TI-81 calculator

As far as I know, the TI-81 doesn't have a degree-minute-second entry mode the later TIs have. But to answer your question, you can always do it as:
 35 + 20 / 60
followed by ENTER if needed.

If you're in Radian mode instead of Degree mode, you'd have to follow up with MATH 6 to specify degrees instead of radians.

No Y's in Table

The tables will not say Y specifically, they only say L1, L2, L3, etc. UNLESS you type in an equation in the "Y=" button menu. When you type an equation in on that page, and then hit "2nd" "GRAPH", you will get X and Y values for that equation.
