How do I get a Motorola RPR 550 pager to work with a "AA" battery instead of a 'N' size battery with the vibrate module?

The Motorola RPR 550 pager works well with the 'N' size battery and the vibrate module in the battery compartment but will only work for a brief period of time when the vibrate module is removed and a 'AA' size battery is used. Is there a way to change a setting so that the pager will work with the 'AA' battery?

SOURCE: clock battery won't recharge

Change to Ni-Mah rechargeables at the highest capacity you can find. If still in trouble it will suggest the internal battery has died - and a replacement is a repair job which will be pricey if feasible So just live without that feature.

SOURCE: Using AA batteries in nec mobilepro 790

no absolutely not! i have not read that any were but if it was possible what you would have to do would be semi dangerous (for you and the device). if you want to take the chance then remove the battery (don't open the battery it self) then there should be some gold conecters that are on the battery and the nec there should be at least 2 conect the batterys to eachother and then to the conecters and hopefuly it will work (this is realy not that easy but you can try)

SOURCE: midland radio battery pack constant vibrate

Hello pjbracht, I just responed to a duplicate of your problem. If they are new, return the battiers and confirm they are "by the book" replacements. If so ask for replacemrnts with a higher mAhr. It is not correct for vibration from a battery pack, lead, NiCad, Ni-MH, period.

Where can i buy batterry and charger of motorola i550 plus?

The battery is readily available online or through any Motorola 2-way radio dealer. You can use part number NTN8971 or NNTN4190 NiMH battery. The phone should also accommodate 4 AA batteries instead of the NiMH battery. (Be certain to never try charging the phone with the AA batteries inside, as it is not designed to do this.)

The wall charger part number NTN1680 is listed as being no longer available from Motorola Solutions. However, during a Google search it appears several vendors still have these available for just over $7 US dollars.

The i550 was a primary phone used in the iDEN Nextel system. It operates on 800 MHz and likely needs to be connected to a system to work. I do not know if it will work as a 2-way radio without being connected to a system. The type of system these were used on has been completely or for the most part shut down. According to this article it will be completely shut down by June 2013. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9227557/Sprint_to_shut_down_Nextel_iDEN_network_next_year

Here is a link to the user manual for the i550 http://www.cellphones.ca/upload/manuals/motorola_i550plus.pdf

Best regards.

Its not working Battery is ok

Try using another set of batteries, sometimes cameras need high ampere rating batteries to start. Make sure you are using correct type of batteries. Read camera manual to find the correct battery number. If your camera uses AA size rechargeable battery then try using new Duracell instead for checking your camera, if your camera is good then it should work. Else you may need to send your camera for repair.

Does leaving handset in charger shorten battery life

I used to repair pagers for Motorola and back then the biggest problem we had was from bad batteries. Firemen would go on vacation and leave there pagers in the chargers while gone. They would return in a week or two and find that there pagers would not work. The chargers heat the battery while charging and this continued heating after charging would ruin the batteries. New chargers aren't as bad but it is best to cycle your battery. Run it until it needs charging, charge until charged then use until it again needs to be charged. Refrain from unnecessary charging. If you properly cycle a battery it can last for 2 or 3 years before replacing

No, the charger is only usable to charge the rechargeable NiMH or Li-Ion battery which comes with the radio. Attempting to charge Alkaline rechargeable batteries with this charger could cause the to expode. If your charger is not charging the batteries which came with the units, it could be you do not have the charger cord end plugged in all the way, or the batteries dropped below the initial charge level by setting on a store shelf too long. Most TalkAbouts come with a cradle style charger to hold the radio, and a possible plug to plug into the charge hole. Check all connections, and clean any battery/charger contacts with a pencil eraser. To re-initialize the batteries you would need to attempt 3-5 charge cycles by charging for 8-10 hours, then letting the battery rest for 8-10 hours, repeating 3-5 times as needed. If this does not bring the battery back to life, you need to replace the batteries.

How can I increase battery life?

Transferring images from the camera to the computer requires a lot of battery power. It is recommended to use the AC adapter when transferring pictures to conserve battery life. If not using the AC adapter, make sure your batteries are fully charged and use the highest possible serial speed when connecting the camera to the computer. After transferring your images remember to shut off the camera, otherwise the camera will remain "awake" and will continue to wear down the batteries. The LCD display also uses much battery power and should be used sparingly when trying to conserve power usage. Battery life can be improved by using AA sized lithium batteries, rechargeable AA Ni-Cad batteries, or rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries instead of AA sized alkaline batteries.
