Question about Apple iPhone 4S
Replacing your iPhone battery is one of the more easier things to do. Your battery may be switching off at around 30% or when using things like youtube etc. If its doing this then it will need replacing as it will only get worse and could end up damaging your handset.
Check on youtube or find a reputable repair service locally (if you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself) to replace your battery for you as you could damage your phone further if you are not familiar with replacing the components inside an iPhone 4s.
I hope this helps

For a 4S, it really won't be worth the price of replacing the battery. But if you are set on keeping the same phone instead of buying a new one, there are a couple things to keep in mind to keep your phone running well.
1. Turn your phone all the way off and all the way back on at least once every 2 days. This refreshes everything and its amazing how many problems it will fix before they even start.
2. Don't be afraid of letting your battery die every once in awhile. Its actually good for it. Charge your phone all the way, and then let it run all the way down without charging it until AFTER the battery dies.
3. Don't charge your phone until you have to. Charging when you still have 70% will just put unnecessary wear on your battery. A good rule of thumb is to wait until it is down to 20%, or even 10% if you dare.
And it all else fails, spend $15-25 on a lipstick-sized portable charger and carry it with you for those times when you need a quick boost.
Hope that helps!

Check with your local iPhone repair shop. I am in doubt you'd replace it on your own.

Testimonial: "neither of those ports are broken or cracked... but upon further looking, they seem burnt out (sploshes in the port of the phone and vise versa). Looks like I have be up in the morning, thanks so much."
This is a feature built in the operating system to help preserve battery life and to free up memory of the device. I don't believe there is anything that you can do manually to prevent the apps from closing.
Hope that helps!

Check your charger in a different iPhone, or the sync cable also. Check to see if your dock connector isn't tarnished, if it is clean it with a CLEAN DRY used toothbrush. Has your phone been wet? These are all the typical culprits when a phone will not charge. I hope it isn't the wet problem! Good luck!
