You didn't say what machine you have. You'd probably want a heavy-duty (industrial) machine. Domestic home machines are probably not recommended for sewing heavy leather. They may be able to but in the long run it may damage the machine.

I am trying to gather I have a gathering foot on but it isn't gathering please could you tell me what tension it should be on

Tension should not have a large affect on gathering other than one thread will lay on top of the fabric instead of both threads meeting in the middle of the fabric. There are several different kinds of gathering/ruffler feet, so it is difficult to address appropriately.

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the Brother 1034D by the knife lever?

Sheryl EvansI would advise you to take the machine ti a Brother dealer & have it repaired. These machine are hard to fix your self as everything must line up to work properly. If there isn't one close to you there is an online called 'Ken's Sewing Center'. They are authorized dealers & very reasonable. Do a search & it should come up. :) I have used them before & they are excellent to work with. They also do online layaways so it you need anything they will help with it. I am only a customer & not affiliated wilt the, in any way. :)

Don't know what the blue buttons on Sew D'Lite are for.

The top one with the bobbin on it is for winding a bobbin. When you press it the bobbin winder spins around. The bottom two are for if you don't want to use the foot pedal. The second of these two, which has a O/I sign on it, makes the machine stop and start. The one with the snail and the rabbit controls the speed.

Have you checked to see if the needle is bent. If it is replace the needles. If not you may have to remove the cover hiding the arm, lossen it up and ajust it straight by turning the manual nob slowly.

I had a Scan n Sew several years ago...the rabbit means you are not moving the scanner fast enough. The turtle means to slow down. Or it could be reverse? Sorry it's been a long time.

I have the 7570 model and just recently got windows vista installed on my computer and now my computer states that there is no communication between the sewing machine and the computer I have an adapter...

I went to a computer store (Rabbit Computer) that repairs computers and purchased a new cable. They said that some customers had a problem with Vist and the more expensive brand of cable so I bought the cheap one. I had to install drivers on my compter and everything thing worked on my first attempt to download to the machine. The cable was half the price of the one at Best Buy.
