I have a BSA point 22 carbine air weapon circa 1990. Could you tell me what the name of the carbine is?

Hello Jean

It is likely to be a BSA Meteor or a BSA Airsporter. I am from Birmingham UK and owned one.

    How old is my Merrill Carbine, Type I S/N 5681? Are there any records of the soldier to whom this carbine was issued or to what regiment it was assigned?

    The Gun was manufactured in 1861. FYI - The Springfield Armory Museum has one on Display with SN:5684.
    They a good bit of info on the Merrill Carbine's @,SPECIFIC=9895,DATABASE=objects,
    It was sold to the Dept of the Army so I think they would be who to contact for ownership info.

    Who invented the m1 carbine rifle

    The rifle was originally designed by Jonathan Browning, brother of John Browning, but died before the design was completed.
    Winchester hired David "Carbine" Williams, who had began design on a "short-stroke" gas piston design, having him finish the M1 design.

    If you are unsure of what to do, I would suggest you take your carbine to a gunsmith. Safety is an important thing to have installed right!

    Seems these guns are kind of a convoluted mess with the way they were produced in two different factories with overlapping serial numbers, and factory markings. Here's a link to a good forum on the guns and the process by which they were marked

    This is the best site I could find to give you an idea of what year your m1 was made. They were made from June 1942 to Aug. 1945.
