Question about Kenwood Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I'm trying to get the auxiliary option working on my Kenwood KDC-2025 radio. Do I just need a regular aux cable? Where does it plug into on the Kenwood (no aux hole on the front)?

If it's in the back of the unit, will the unit still push back into the slot and be flush?

Hi Sara,

Kenwood is not very clear about this - but it appears that it requires the purchase of an accessory device. You can read about it (briefly) on the bottom left side of page 21 in the manual linked below:

You may get better help at an auto stereo store / department.

I hooked up an aux cable to my KDC-MO4028 but the aux input option is not coming up as an option for one of the sources.

Hi David,

A decent info page for this radio and options is at Crutchfiled. They seems to provide good / very good information on all the products they sell. Service and pricing is up to you. To use Aux inputs, you need to purchase and connect the optional Aux Input Adapter (picture below).

Crutchfield sells these for about $20, and they plug into the jack on the rear of the radio. The jacks on the cables attached to the radio are preamp outputs - not inputs; and will not work as an input.

Here's a link to the manual (free download). Good luck!

Kenwood Kdc-mp425 will not switch to Aux. Aux cable is connected to the back of the headunit, but no aux option is available on menu for either my ipod touch or my sirius unit. I've accessed the menu from...

Apparently, this auxiliary input only works for a Kenwood CD changer or a sirius radio connection. At least that is my conclusion after finding the same problem. Let me know if you figured anything out on this.

Aux won't work

You Will Need To Unhook Your Battery From Your Car And Re Hook It Up Then Plug Something In To The Aux Port And Then Try To Select It As A Option.

Need to use Aux function with Satellite Tuner installed.

Yes, you will need to consult your owners manual (if you don't have one try Kenwoods website). AUX functions are turned ON during initial setup (like when you set the time).

I CANT FIND THE AUX INPUT SORCE ON MY KDC-MP435U CD PLAYER

You need to go into the menu and actually switch the aux to on. If you have your owners manual it will tell you how to turn it on. It is under the menu option "built in auxiliary input setting" If you do not have the manual i have a link to it for you. Hope this helps.

Switching on the auxiliary input

According to the manual, the AUX input is an optional accessory.

Check to see if the RCA jacks are labeled. I believe they are pre-outs only.

Best of Luck.

Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.
