SOURCE: Black pages when making a copy or printing something

Have you tried both drum and toner supplies? cause it sounds like a drum fault, if you have tried a new drum and toner, and it is doing it when printing internal reports, receiving fax's and copying then you have a tecnical issue to do with charge and this would likely render machine unecomical to repair (unless you can find a bad contact with drum on machine). If it receives faxs clearly but copys black then it is different issue (ie optics).

SOURCE: printing black shaded on complete page

Problem is usually a dirty charge corona wire. There is a cleaner on the drum unit, slide this across and back 2 or 3 times. If not, then the corona wire itself is missing or broken, change drum.

SOURCE: printing black shaded on complete page

Shading May Print As Black Printing to Fax Printer

CAUSE:
loadTOCNode(1, 'cause')This problem is caused by the Intensity level for the fax printer being set to its default value. This default value does not take shading into consideration.

RESOLUTION :
loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution'); A workaround for this problem is to change the Intensity setting on the Printer Properties page for the fax printer on the client workstation. Select the Graphics tab of the Printer Properties setting, and change the value for Intensity to 125 or more until the shading is the desired tint.

SOURCE: Brother 5250DN printer noise

Check my solution here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t641678-paper_tray_noise

Here's a solution for you with Brother HL 5250 D/DN/DNT

Change the paper setting tab in the tray to make sure you have a small gap between the top part of the paper and the bottom part.

so if this is the old settings : |paper| --> you want to make it: | paper| so you can have slide the paper back and forth.

DON'T adjust the setting to the next paper size because the roller wont catch the paper if it slide too far.

Good luck to all.

Printer squealing every time it prints? Help

This issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :
  1. Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.
  2. Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."
  3. Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.
  4. Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.
  5. Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.
  6. Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

X5470 lexmark has paper jam now makes squealing noise when I use it!

Try this. Remove any paper jams, take out all sheets of paper and remove all cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Unplug the printer from the power source. Plug it back in after 10-15 seconds. When the printer's ready, re-insert the cartridges. The printer will print an alignment page. Load just 5 sheets of paper only. Let it print the alignment page all the way through without cancelling it. If printer is not making the squealing noise, problem resolved. If it's still making the noise, the printer's mechanism somehow got affected by the paper jam now. If that's the case, any mechanical/hardware problem in the printer, it's better to ask assistance from Lexmark. If printer is damaged already, and it's still within warranty, they might send you one for replacement. Good luck!

Lexmark C510 is making grinding noises while printing large jobs

I found another posting stating that the culprit was the black toner cartridge. Sure enough I changed our black cartridge and the grinding noise has stopped. No wonder the grinding noise was not happening all the time only when the black cartridge got low. Thanks for the help!

Hp 6200 makes machine gun sound before printing, when the print carriage goes all the way to the right is when i hear the machine gun sound, it still prints fine.

Hi,

This is quite normal with this series of printers. Happens on my 6310. It "machine guns" only occassionally (once a month), and then the gunning noise slows down slowly, then the print starts. Might be shaking the head to clear ink rigorously or something.
