The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan takes 28" wiper blades on both sides front and a
18" rear wiper. See related links below for more information.
Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just
by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle
make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures
correct length AND correct attachment.
The one thing you have to make sure is that the blades are the correct length or in the correct positions. This is most likely were your problem lies. I have a 42 inch Sears and the blades are of all equal lengths. When you rotate by hand the blades if allowed look like they would touch but are very close. Good Luck...
It sounds like you are using the wrong length wiper blades for that vehicle.
Have an auto parts store look up the wiper blades according to the application of your vehicle (the auto part store will tell you the length), and then check to see if the wiper blades that are on your vehicle are actually the same length as what the auto part store said should be on the vehicle.
It is not unusual to find the wrong size wiper blades on those vans. (Having a 20" wiper blade when the application calls for a 22" wiper blade)
You'll need to find out the length of the blade in inches. If you have an old broken one, you can simply measure it. Then if you search online, you'll find a variety of sources that will weld/braze a custom length blade for you. (link here)
Otherwise, you might find a manual here. that gives the standard length for that machine.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
Hedge trimmers cut using either a single-action, where only the top blade oscillates, cutting against the stationary lower blade, or a double-action where a pair of double-sided toothed blades that slide back and forth at a high speed so you can sweep across hedges in both directions. The latter are more efficient.
Blade length
Consider the size of the hedge you will be cutting to get the right length blade. The longer the blade length, the more area it can cover and the quicker it will get the job done. However longer blades also require more power and larger heavier motors so weigh up blade size versus ease of use. Blade lengths range from 14 to 30 inches with long blades of 22 to 30 inches providing extended reach for taller or wider hedges.
Blade width
The blade width indicates the space between teeth and the maximum thickness the trimmer can cut through, eg. 20mm blade width will be able to cut through a maximum 20mm branch.
