I put in new ink cartridge, check the quality of the four color. It was working, then I got a message saying unable to clean. I have unplug the printer turn it back on it still doesn't work.I put in new ink cartridge, check the quality of the four color. It was working, then I got a message saying unable to clean. My trusty old printer has an error message and I have lost my maintenance manual. Could you please send me a copy to download on my computer. This also worked for the Brother MFC3240C. The only difference being the # listed in the purge: being 10000+, but the 2783 and all other instructions remain the same.
Ok el error 46 o unable to clean en las impresoras brother se debe a que llegaste al numero maximo de purgas de cartuchos por lo cual la impresora supone que el wasteink o el deposito donde tira la tinta esta lleno y para evitar que se tire y te haga un desorden monumental recomienda que lo cambies asi por lo cual se sugiere que si no quieres comprar uno nuevo abre la impresora y cambia la esponja.
cuando el contador de limpieza llega a 6400 se genera un error interno machine error 46. asi que las futuras operaciones de limpieza son prohibidas and la impresora no se puede usar
Pero no te espantes ya que tiene arreglo.

no te voy a complicar primero daz click en menu/set y presionas *2864
pero ojo ojo esto lo tienes que hacer todo en menos de 2 segundos como sabras si funciono si funciono al menos en este modelo mfc 210c empiezan a parparear los botones photo capture copy fax y scan
eso es que si funciono si no funciono presiona stop y vuelve a empezar recuerda menos de 2 segundos
y en la pantalla dira maintenance
ahora el codigo para mantenimiento es 80 presionas 8 y seguido el 0 dira la hora y al final ok
ahora presiona el boton black start son segun las conte como 24 veces te va diciendo datos de la impresora el que nos interesa dice purge:06400 ya estando ahi metemos el codigo 2783 y se pone en 0 ahora presionas el boton stop para regresar al menu anterior dira maintenance y ahi presionas 9 una o dos veces dira please wait hace un reinicio prende y lista para usarse nuevamente

Not enough info. What, when, etc., etc., etc. OEM or refill cartridges? What was error msg before replacement. What is msg now? Did you clean contacts?
The closest thing to your error message I can find is "Unable to Clean XX" on page 156, in which case, your All-in-1 has either a (1) mechanical problem, or (2) a staple/paper clip or torn bit of paper is stuck in the machine.
Use a flashlight to look really closely for little foreign matter that might be jamming your device - office staples can be insidious.
- pull out the AC plug - put back the AC plug while holding down the "menu" button and keep holding it (15 sec) - now you are entering the MAINTENANCE mode and "error 46" pops up in the display - select 8 by using the arrow buttons ,push OK and select 0 and push OK - 00:00 00:01 OK (the display is showing this message) - now push the MONO button 25 times until you see PURGE: xxxxx - Select 2, push ok, select 7,push ok,select 8,push ok, select 3,push ok - the purge counter indicates now: purge: 00000 - switch off the printer ,switch it on - ready to print

Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device.You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective.If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and your printer need service.If error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this: 1. Pres 'menu', 'mono start' then'menu' one by one... 2. Press the arrow up or down to go to'maintenance 80'. 3. Press 'mono start' several times to go to'Purge'. Finding the PURGE will show some numeric value which is Iassume the number of times the printer had cleaned. 4. Press'arrow up' key and scroll for number "2" then press "set".Do the same for numbers 7, 8 and 3. After you have entered thiscombination, the purge numeric value will be reseted to 00000.
The ink absorber box is fed up with waist ink. You have to buy a new absorber box from a service partner which can be found on the brother homepage of your country. Ther is no way to clean the box!
When you have the absorber box plz post here again. Ill give you some details on how to change the box and do the eeprom reset.
Hi, I tried the solution above "by obiewan" it work's for me but I do a little changes on his pattern.
1. Unplug your printer
2. press down the menu/set then plug it (just keep oh pressing it down until you see the message error 46 show up on LCD)
3. press 80
4. then look for "Purge", i think its on the 25th when you scroll down
5. then reset the pruge count to "0" by pressing 2 7 8 3
6. then press stop/exit
7. then press 9 twice
