Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines
I usually place a towel underneath the machine and tip it 45 degrees against a wall ?the towel will stop it sliding over as you work underneath?most bushes are held in by a brass shim which slides in its slot one way and then the other?the hardest bit is feeding the new spring into the tube after you push home the brush.this is why it is better to take the motor out....these are usually held on by two bolts that face the rear of the machine....then it should slide off the other two holding points...you need to take off the drive belt and disconnect the wiring loom.ALWAYS disconnect the machine from power source before you attempt any work.Once you have the motor out it is always a good idea to check the commutator for scoring or deep scratches.i always brush out any carbon dust prior to fitting new brushes.be aware that some cheap brushes are false economy as they will wear down and chip more easily than the correct brand make.if it is badly scored it is better to buy a complete refurbished motor with new brushes as that is usually around £30 complete of ebay suppliers.bear in mind shipping can be £15 -£ 20 due to the weight.good luck.

SOURCE: Error code f08 on Wt940 ultima.
not sure if this will help but try:
First empty the machine by lowering the hose at the rear to ground level into a container. Take off the white plastic cover on rear at bottom. You will see black rubber hose connected to barrel of machine in right hand corner. Undo the silver screw on the band securing the hose. (Biggest band). You can now pull the hose down to reveal a "table tennis like" ball. Lift it out carefully and you will probably find an obstruction like a coin or similar. I found a hairgrip but it was enough to stop the ball functioning. DO NOT TAKE OFF THE WHITE HOSE CLIPS
Comment by pulmicort, posted on Feb 02, 2008 Further to my comments re clearing scrap from table tennis ball after code F4. Machine started ok but then F5 came up. Had to take the pump off and apart to reveal broken hairclip actually seized in pump. If you are handy at all this is simplicity itself.
Slide pump to left and lift and it comes clear. Take off 2 black hoses only where connected to main machine. Pull off electrical connection. Pump and hoses lift out easily. 3 screws open the pump. Clean any obstruction and reassemble. A 30 minute operation.

The filter is located in the sump hose at the rear bottom of the m/c.
You need to remove the large clip that holds the hose on
Access is gained by removing the lower rear panel.

Remove all the screws securing the 2 door halves together, and gently prize apart the two halves with a screwdriver or similar, be careful not to drop the door glass.. You will probably be better off removing the door from the front of the m/c altogether.
Replace broken parts as req'd.

Code f03 means wash thermistor open circuit, this is normally part of the heating circuit, suggest you test heater and thermistos located in the end of the heater, and replace if necesscary. If heater o/k , then could be bad connection to control module, or broken wire, if still no joy, then call Hotpoint.
