Check the Switch that connected to the blade engagement leaver if it has a blade engagement leaver.

Then its probably not the switch. No idea which mower you're talking about but most of them have several cut off switches. If the one under the seat is not working (ie it thinks there's no one sitting on it) then when you let the brake off it will shut off the engine. The same goes for the blade engagement switch. If you're lucky the same switch will be used everywhere so you can use your new switch to check each one in turn. Good luck.

How do I take off thebrakes pressuer switch

Hi Tom:
If you open the hood (bonnet) and look at the brake master cylinder there should be an electrical connection. The thing on the cylinder that the wires connect to will be the switch.
I'd try unpluging it and then use a continuity meter to try to check the switch function.
DEFINITELY replace the switch if it is not functioning correctly.
It would be DANGEROUS to simply dis-connect it and then drive without brake lights.

Mower cranks and runs fine but when I release brake pedal, it dies. I have check all safety switches and they all have continuity when they are suppose to

Sounds like your seat switch isn't working. Operator presence (seat switch activated) is required when the brake is released & pro is engaged or your engine will shut down.

Brake light won't shut off on my 883 low.any suggestions

Hi PAT, a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, witch is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. While I was cutting grass the Engine shut down. Pulled the brake up. Push the PTO back down to shut the blades down. I started the engine, engine runs perfect.

try replacing the battery most with an electric clutch PTO have to have a really strong battery as the alternator system is not strong enough by itself

Brake lights not working

Most common problem is a faulty switch. Locate and test continuity when brake peddle is depressed.

Next check continuity of wire. (Presume you've checked the bulb and fuse!!)

Brake lights wont go off

If the stoplamps are on continuously, the following may be at fault:
  1. Circuitry.
  2. Brake pedal position (BPP) switch.
  3. Multifunction switch (Crown Victoria equipped with the police street appearance package or Grand Marquis)
CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH
Disconnect: BPP Switch. Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? If yes, continue to the next step. If no install a new BPP Switch.

CHECK CIRCUIT 511 (LG) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) Fuse 14 (20A). Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? If yes, and your Crown Victoria is equipped with the police street appearance package or Grand Marquis, continue to the next step. If Crown Victoria, REPAIR circuit 569 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation. If no, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

CHECK CIRCUIT 9 (LG/OG) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c. Does the LH stoplamp continue to illuminate? If yes, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. If no, go to next step.

CHECK CIRCUIT 5 (OG/LB) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c. Does the RH stoplamp continue to illuminate? If yes, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. If the high mounted stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 569 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation. If the high mounted stoplamp does not continue to illuminate, INSTALL a new multifunction switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

Where is the fuse for the brakes on the 2001 Buick Regal?

are you having a problem with burnt out brake light bulbs or they are not working when you are appling the brakes? If you installed new bulbs it maybe the brake light switch that is bad. The switch is located on the brake pedal bracket above the pedal. you can test the switch with an ohm meter to see if continuity goes through it. If not when the button is pushed inward the switch is bad. Bulbs for the brakes have filaments like a fuse. When they burn out no continuity goes through it just like a fuse would.
