On most gps's that means it is time to reset the unit. This should force it to reload the sattilite catalog information and it should start working. Depending on the unit it can take up to an hour before it it works after rebooting while other new ones do it in a few miutes at most.
I believe this unit has a reset hole on the back so just insert somethign like a toothpick and reset it. Then place it where it can get a signal and let it do its thing. Should behave after that.

SOURCE: i bought recently a dvd
Since the device is new, I suggest take it back to the dealer, before doing anything else and ask if he would fix it free of cost. Most dealers would do the fix.
