Is the heating water element getting hot? Is the filter screen in the bottom of the basin clear of food debris? Do you pre-rinse the items being washed?

Dishwasher leaves a white film on didhes and film will not come off.I have drained water heater for about 20 mins to remove calcium deposits but problem still exists.

Start a wash cycle with no dishes and no soap.
Once the machine fills with water and starts washing, open the door and pour in one quart of WHITE vinegar and resume the wash cycle.
Change your dishwasher detergent to the ELECTROLUX brand.
It has added chemicals to combat the problem you describe.
The government mandate to remove phosphates from dishwasher and laundry detergent has resulted in unclean appearance of dishes and laundry.

I have a white film on all my dishes after they are washed. Like Calcium deposits. What can I do.

Is it safe here to assume that you are using a dish detergent which you had no problems with before, but now all of a sudden are?

If so, there could be an issue with the cycling of the machine, not limited to poor rinse cycle (perhaps even partly clogged drain); alternatively the electric heater is staying on too long and frying the soap onto the dishes.

How old is the machine?
Any abnormal noises?
Have you tried a different cleaning cycle?
Have you had any maintenance performed on the machine?
Are the cycle turn on contacts possible dirty?

Best regards
Ck

Dishes have a film and residue left on them after they are washed

Hi
White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

It leaves a hazy film on all the dishes after being washed. Why is this happening? We've changed the detergent several times with no avail.

it sounds like that you have the same problem I have at my house. Hard water. hard water is the term for water that has natural minerals like most water supplies, but your water has a lot more. usually high calcium deposits. Using a rinse aid such as JetDry helps. but long term, if it's hard water, you usually need to look into a water softner.

My Dishwasher leaves a white film on dishes.

check inlet water quality. If more calcium deposits in the water this could happen. Try using water water softeners.

If provision for dish washer salt check and add salt. ( not kitchen salt )

Finally check whether rinse aid compartment is filled with the liquid. If you are tablet, extra rinse aid not needed. Try all the above.

White residue like a film is left on dishes and bowls

It could be due to calcium deposits. In the spring as the water table changes, the quality of the water changes too. This can effect a dishwasher's performance. Here is a link to somethings to do to help reduce or eliminate the filming. Let me know if it helps.

There's a white film on our dishes

The film is usually caused by calcium deposits, here is a link to some instructions I put together that might help.

Motor and pump replaced still not getting dishes clean

Place a cup of vinegar in top rack corner (upright) and run an empty cycle to clean any build up.
Stop using any rinse-aid (jet-dry etc.), if the detergent you're using already has it included. Too much rinse-aid can create a white film on your dishes. A good way to check for rinse-aid build up is to run your fingers on the inside of the cabinet and check for a white powdery residue on your fingers. You can also run the dishwasher for a couple of minutes and check for excess suds in the water when you open it. Excess suds would indicate a rinse-aid build up.
Run the hot water at the tap before starting the cycle and make sure it's at the recommended temperature (120-140°F).
Good luck!
