You want a USB connection between your computer and your phone? Why? To transfer pictures? To access the Internet through your phone?

Who's your carrier? What's the make and model of the phone?

How do I tether my Cricket Samsung to a Windows XP computer?

IF your Samsung through Cricket has a Tether option in settings you'll first need to turn that on and also enable "Mobile Data".
Then connect the phone via a USB cord to your computer. My Samsung uses a micro connector to the phone and std USB to the computer. Good luck.
>> Watch your Data usage. In Tether mode, It can get used up fast.

Tablet will not connect to wifi

When you tether with your Android-powered smartphone, you can connect to the Internet on your computer from any location covered by your cellphone service provider's network. Tethering allows your phone to act as a modem for the computer. Tethering applications such as Tether for Android allow you to set up tethering without the need to root your phone. Before tethering, check with your cellphone service provider to determine how much data you are allowed to use without incurring data charges. Excessive use of the Android phone as a modem can cause you to exceed your allotted data.

Search the Android Market on your phone for a tethering application. Applications such as EasyTether and PdaNet are available to download for free. Download the application from the Market. Installation begins immediately after the download. When installation finishes, an icon for the tethering app is placed on the Android's expanded home screen. Open a Web browser on the computer and access the site specified in the tethering application's description in the Market. Download and install the USB drivers needed to tether from the site. When installation is finished, an icon for the tethering application is placed on the computer's desktop. Tap "Settings" on your Android phone, then tap "Applications." Tap "Development" and enable "USB Debugging." When the field turns green, it is enabled. Connect the phone to the computer with its USB cable. Launch the tethering application on the phone. Launch the application on the computer. Click the option to connect to the Internet in the home screen. When the connection is established, confirmation is displayed in the status window.

How to tether my milestone to my loptop

You can tether your droid to a computer with a USB cable to share internet connection, but verizon charges you a hefty price.
Fortunately, there are apps on the android market that also do the job.
Method 1: Tether Android with Apps that Need Root (Free, heavy configuration)

The Android Wi-Fi Tether application turns your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot--essentially aMiFi--in one tap. The catch? You have to gain root access to your phone, a multi-step process that uses an unofficial Android add-on which can brick your phone if applied incorrectly. Rooting Android is doable for geeks and hackers with experience soft-modding hardware, but it's not something most users could (or should!) do.
Method 2: Tether Android with Proxoid (Free, no root required, some configuration If you don't want to gain root but know enough to get around the command line and use proxy servers, the Proxoid Android app can tether your phone for free.
Method 3: Tether Android with PdaNet ($30, no root required, minimal configuration Finally, the PdaNet Android application lets you tether Android using an app on the phone plus simple software you install on your computer

Need to use android for Internet connection

Got to -

Settings --> Wireless & Network Settings --> Tethering & Portable hotspot.

Check on the way you want the sharing to work. Try USB tethering which should be the most easy to set up. Tethering will work with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Linux.

Hi i need to know how to tether a motorola cliq to my laptop

Yes the drivers are available online @ Cliq-USB-drivers-download.html/" target=_blank>T-Mobile Motorola Cliq USB Drivers download | T-Mobile Cellphones

I have successfully tethered the Cliq via PDAnet on my VM XP machine running on a Macbook Pro. I havent been able to share the windows internet back to the MBP or figured out a bluetooth work around. I am hoping someone will figure a root for this phone.

I also hope that a 2.0 release will come out. When I talked to Motorola they said: "Regarding your concern, at this moment we cannot confirm when an upgrade will be available. However the phone is ready to receive software upgrades to both the Google Android OS, and the Moto Blur interface, therefore upgrades are being planned, but we don't have a release schedule, or confirmation up to which Android version it's going to upgrade."

With further questioning I was able to get an opinion. "I think the upgrade will come shortly as it is a new phone with completely new features and functions, we will be
continuously improving it."

I guess only time will tell but I have no plans to keep this phone if T-Mobile and Motorola dont step it up. user_offline.gif

I'm trying to use my KC910 as USB tethered modem

The LG KC910 has the Android operating system. The Android OS does not include the tethering application required for using your phone as a modem.

You will need to download 'PdaNet for Android' to tether your LG KC910 to your PC.

You can download the program from this link - it's free to try but you'll have to purchase it to be able to access secure websites.

Unable to tether my GR500 to PC. PC does not

I currently cant get Att communication manager to recognize the phone is tethered, but i currently have my xp pro sp3 recognize the driver of the lg xenon.

From the main (touch) screen click on the 4 dots (menu)>then the gear (settings)>then select the gear that says "more +"> select connection (should be first option)>select "USB connection"> select "Data Service". NOW you plug in the data cable (dont plug it in before you do this!) and windows should auto pick up the driver for you.

My ONLY problem is getting the ATT communication manager to recognize the phone. it simply says "No wireless device detected". which is garbage because the device manager has no missing drivers and i saw the driver physically installed. anyone else having this problem too???
