You might try cleaning those discs that won't play. Smudges,dirt, & scratches on DVD cause problems

Dirty laser.. scratches on discs..and sometimes laser diodes get weak and then will have issues playing discs. Some NEWER discs are a different format and the player will need a firmware update (connect to internet via Ethernet cable to get updates)
