Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX220 Digital Camera Black

Open Question

My camera does not switch on at all. When I open the battery compartment I see a LED light flashing inside. Any ideas?

Battery is okay as it works on my other similar camera. I use the power supply and lead supplied but no yellow light comes on either

Sounds like a battery problem , try buying a new battery or the camera adaptor. The battery unfortunately is faulty and wont charge.

SOURCE: DSC W30 digital camera, wont power up!

This is embarrassing because I usually know what I'm doing with this stuff! I don't know why, but all it turned out to be for me anyway, is that the battery had lost its charge very quickly. I still don't know why but it's been fine since! I still ahve to cover the battery compartment door with tape but other than that, it's working as expected. Of course, I figured that out after I'd run out and bought a substitute!

SOURCE: Camera won't come on

Likely you need to replace the battery. They're good only for a set number of recharges, and then they just won't store the charge anymore. The other possibility is corrosion or dirt on the battery contacts (on the battery and inside the camera) -- wipe them with a Q tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, let them dry, then try it again.

Red light flashes but camera will not stay on

When the red LED goes on. the batteries are empty. When the LED is flashing, it is even worse.
Your camera will work with AA batteries.
Always be sure the batteries are charged.
Insert the batteries correct plus to plus and minus to minus. Only one battery the wrong way around and the camera won't work. Check contacts of the batteries and in the battery compartment of your camera. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything in or on your camera.
Always charge the batteries before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Also check if the battery door is closed correct. Most cameras do have a switch connected to the battery door. If the switch does not work correct, it could be you can't switch on your camera.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In most cases, alkaline batteries have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera. They can't deliver enough power and can start leaking, causing damage to your camera.

Sorry just got this message okay here is a sequence for opening, closing and removing the battery.
I'm also supplying some diagrams. The battery compartment is a push type towards the outer edge of the camera body then it swings up and open.

Hi, my Samsung nv10 camera, when switching on, only the auto focus light comes on. The lens does not pop out or open. The only way to switch off the aoto focus light is then to remove the battery. Any...

If you have recently dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens tube (housing). This damage will prevent the lens from moving properly and will cause the camera to shut itself off after a few seconds. If the lens is damaged the camera will require professional repair. If the lens is not damaged, the problem may be battery related. Make sure that you have the correct battery type installed, and that the batteries are fresh/fully charged. If the problem persists, you may have corrosion on the battery contacts inside that camera that is preventing full battery power from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinstall them in the camera. This cleaning solves the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

When I try to turn on my DC4800, the ready light

The problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe the ends of the batteries and replace them in the camera. This clears up the problem about 90% of the time -- I hope it works for you.

Wont charge

That does like the battery is not making a good connection to the camera,

when it in the dock it being powered by some other connection, right, so it works okay , however when using the battery only, it don't work, check the connection(s) inside the battery compartment.
