Question about Cell Phones
If you can, you probably need to take it back to your wireless service provider. Either a) the phone has been rooted and it didn't take well, or b) the sim card is flaking out on you, or c) hardware in the phone is slipping, or d) the software is hosed... lots of options there so lets narrow it some.
Have you restarted the phone? If not, by all means do that first. It could just bee something software wise is locked up and a reboot will get ya working again.
If you've restarted and still have the issue, then if its an android and has an external storage device (SD card, micro SD card), turn off the phone and remove it completely. Turn it back on and see if that gets you working again. Some times if there's a bad card in the reader, other pieces of hardware can be affected and lock up.
Still not working? Turn the phone back off, remove the SIM card (google how to do it for your particular phone if you aren't familiar with the procedure...it varies by phone), make sure its not scratch, dented, dinged, torn, dirty, whatever and put it back in. Turn it back on and see if you're functional.
Still not getting there? Few last options. If you're on a iPhone, plug in to iTunes and restore a backup if you have one. Possible a recent update hosed things for ya. If you're on an Android, see if you can find a way to roll back the update (not sure all phones support this but it used to be an option on my older android device before I switched). Failing all of this, give your wireless provider a call and talk to them or stop by one of their brick and mortars. They should have staff on hand that can look at it and try a few things for ya and let you know whats going on. It you're lucky and its just a sim card, they can replace it for you most of the time free of charge.
