Question about Lowrance GPS
My unit will boot up normal without a card in it. It will boot up normal with my Great Lakes 901G in it. When I put this card in it, it goes back to the Lowrance home screen and never recovers.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: I have a Lowrance LMS
Are saying you can't read the screen at night, or is it hard to read the screen anytime?
If you tap the power key, you should here a beep and the screen should get brighter. If you hear the beep and there is no light, then the internal light has failed.
If you can't read the screen in normal light conditions try viewing it under a bright light at various angles. You may notice that the screen is just barely visible. If this is the case you may be able to fix the problem by adjusting the contrast. Try tapping bthe power key and then tap the right or left side of the track pad. It may take several taps to see the results. If left or right doesn't work, try up or down.

Mine does the same thing when the voltage is low. The GPS part will drain the battery if left connected. Learned the hard way. I installed a battery isolator switch, the one with the big red key, and switch the battery to "Off" when finished. Either that or unplug your unit each time. Still, if the battery is not maintained during storage, the same problem will arise until the battery has been fully charged. Never has done this when the outboard is running and current is going to the battery from the alternator.

i've repaird this by installing a secondary powerswitch and disconnecting the power switch on the keypad. It's an involved repair but it can be done.
