Dampness on my gps

The Gamins are not sealed. You might try putting in a zip lock bag full of uncooked rice and leaving it for a few days. The rice will absorb the moisture that is in your GPS.

Damp smell coming from inside machine and black thick slime inside rubber seal.

That thick black slime is called black mold. You need to do a major cleaning on your unit, including checking the water drainage hose to assure that the water is clearing all of the way out and is clean of builduo. Do not waste time in waiting to do this as it will only get worse. Disinfect, Disinfect, Disinfect. Good Luck.

My c70 today, went from normal operation to a screen full of flickering vertical lines. Any clues as to what is wrong??? Cheers Peter

The cause: damp.
Easy solution: press on left side of screen. Voila!

Longer answer:
The connection between screen and computer is made bij means of a long, small horizontal strip with multiple connections in the vertical plane.
The strip sits loosely between the left side of the screen and the print.
When damp occurs the connections between the screen and the computer can be lost.
Helping to re-establish the connection by means of light pressure on the left side of the screen solves the problem.

Want to clear favorites what do i need to do

If you do a Master Reset, it will clear all the favorites from the unit. With the unit off, press and hold the bottom right of the screen while turning the unit on. Then follow the prompts to reset it. All the favorites will be cleared. Otherwise, it is a one at a time process.

Try cleaning the face carefully with a damp cloth with a bit of Dawn dish soap and re-wipe with a damp cloth with no soap. Sometimes dirt or small tranfers form your fingers can lock up the display grid.

Drum separated from bulkhead!

There is a heavy cloth and rubber seal that is suppsed to be in the gap, it probably is worn off and fallen apart, they can be replaced by taking the dryer apart and removing the drum and puting on a a new seal

There are third party Garmin repair services that will fix it for cheap. Also, I found an DYI GPS repair guide,so you can do it yourself too, not that difficult, the part is available on Ebay.

are you in salt water? yes furuno can fix and reseal, but saltwater inside can not be stopped and you should cut your losses. If you wish, place a desiccant pack inside the unit. that is one of those little silica gel packs that you got with the christmas presents. Be very careful and precise with the rubber seal and you may be able to seal it back up. Temperature cycling can draw in humid air which can not escape, so open it, put a couple of desiccant packs in there, or ship it to Furuno. If the board is corroded, forget it, the board costs too much!

I cannot acquire satellites signal. What to do ?

I experienced the same problem about acquiring satellite signal even when it's a clear sunny day. After 30 mintues, it was still searching! The unit appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode. The following worked for me: 1) open the GPS antenna 2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on 3) enter maintenace mode 4) select diagnostics 5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data 6) restart unit the usual way My GPS 350 was able to acquire satellite signal in less than 1 minute after the above steps were taken.
