I have 233mb of space left on a 37gb hard drive. Everytime I boot up it will (after loading personal settings) slow down to nothing. I would like to make more room on the hard drive by removing some...

do you know how to access the settings for your paging file (portion of the hard drive used like it was ram)
    my computer>properties>performance and memory>page file
reduce the size of your page file, this should free up a bit of space to work with.

Down loaded new nortonantivirus from tiscali seams to be slowing down lap top any sugestions

Unfortunately many antiviruses tend to slow down things: they have to check each file on execution.

Check that your antivirus isn't scanning your whole system just now. Many antiviruses will do that upon first installation, to be sure they're running on a clean system. If that's the case, wait for it to complete.

If this happens often, there's a "speed" setting - fast scan will make the computer slow, but slow scan or "idle scan" will load the system much less. Try those.

Otherwise, maybe another antivirus might work better. I've always found ESET's NOD32 very light-treading even on not-exactly-bleeding-edge computers. Another one is AVG, of which there's even a Personal Free edition.

Toshiba DynaBook T4 Model Laptop is just too slow to Boot / Load

Use registry cleaner like cCleaber, uniblue registry editor or Advanced System Optimizer and configure it to lave only essential programs to start-up, optimize system performance, set menu delay and ability to skip non-essential programs on Start-up. I personally use Advanced System Optimizer for the past 3-4 years and it has worked wonders....sodeep

Stuck on "loading your personal settings..." screen.

try booting to the SAFE MODE (F8 at boot) and see if you can log in to the ADMIN account from the safe mode. If you can, then create a new user profile, then reboot to normal mode and try booting to the NEW profile. If that works, then the old profile is likely corrupt
