Question about Dryers

Fan pull chain not working.

All of a sudden our fan pull chain that controls turning the fan on or on 1 of the 3 different speeds will not work at all. I have tried numerous times to pull the chain but to no avail...a few times I have pulled it there has been a a single clicking sound like it is trying to start but then nothing else. I am concerned one of our kids pulled the chain too hard at some point and maybe its not making the connection? The light kit still works on it. Any help is appreciated.

Just because a switch looks the same on the outside doesn't mean it's the same on the inside. What make/model of fan do you have? Whatever you do, DO NOT CUT the wires going into the switch.

The switch needs to be replaced. They are available from hardware stores, or big box stores that sell ceiling fans.

Fan buttons work the light. Light button does nothing. No button causes fan to operate. What's wrong?

If there are pull-chain switches on the fixture, their operation may have caused remote control to fail. Turn off power at the source, pause for a few minutes, and turn on power. Either fan or light control, or both, may work. If not, you will have to figure out which pull-chain operation makes things right again. To avoid future problems, disconnect the pull chains at the link so only the remote controls operation.

Do you mean 3 speed switch? The question says your fan has a remote! Pull chain switches are different. If you need a pull chain switch call 1-888-830-1326 with the model # of the fan.

My control won't activate the light on my Hunter fan. The light comes on via pull chain fine, and the control works the 3 speeds on the fan, but the light won't respond.

Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.

Hampton Bay cieling fan. Fan will not operate without light being on. Is there a wiring problem or a fix for this

Isn't there a pull chain to shut off the light? If you only had a light there before and it was controlled by a single switch, that switch will now turn on the fan and light and you have to pull the chain to shut the light off and pull a different chain to turn the fan on and select speed.

The ceiling fan do not occilate the light turn on but the other does not work propperly

mcdevito75 here, Both the fan and lights work off the wall switch, for the fan to work there is also a pull chain close to the ceiling on the fan shroud you have to pull that chain to get the fan going and 1--2 more times for various speeds. If by chance the fan is brand new, reove the blades and check for stops in the fan motor, right where the blades hook up, these are in place from the factory and have to be removed for the fan to work, they pull right out.

Ceiling fan stuck on low

in order for the remote control to work properly the fan has to be on its highest speed using the pull chain ... after setting the pull chain in the proper position you can tie up the chain or remove it to prevent others from changing the setting .. the remote will control the speed from then on ..

We have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan (about 10 yrs old) don't know the model. It will only turn 1 speed? When trying to change speeds with the chain pull it stays the same. It quit working for a while and I...

the fan changes speed by inserting a capacitor of different values in series with the motor .. direct drive to the motor is the fastest speed .. a large capacitor in series slows it down a bit and a smaller capacitor slows it down more ... so if your fan is running at full speed all the time then one of the capacitors is shorted or the switch is bad .. if its stuck on one of the lower speed settings then the switch has a bad contact .. the capacitors are mounted together in a small box with several wires going to the pull chain switch .. you can replace the capacitor box .. and you can replace the 3 or 4 position switch ... or you can remove all that stuff and put in a remote controled system .. that involves a box that just fits inside the fan .. it is hooked to AC power and neutral .. it then hooks up to the lilght and the fan giving you control over both .. you can vary brightness and fan speed .. you would no longer need the fan or light pull switch or the capacitors ... you could also get a new fan having such a controller .. since yours is fairly old it might be worthwhile to upgrade .. some of the remote controls allow you to set a temperature ..if the room goes above that temp then the fan turns on automatically and the speed is determined by how much higher the room temprature is from that set value .. some remotes also give you an additional very low fan speed .. thats nice at night when you just need a gentle breeze .. some also allow you to set a delay before the lights go out after you have clicked "turn off" ... that gives you time to exit the room or get in bed before the lights actually go out ... kindof nice features that might make it worth while to up grade .. to get parts for your old fan see this URL
http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php

since Home Depot sells hampton bay .. then they might have parts as well .. worth a try .. you can also see new models there ..

Hampton Bay 54 In. 5-Blade with remote control at wall.

1. Set the remote to run the fan on high.
2. Pull the fan speed chain until the fan reaches high speed.
3. All speeds should work normally now.
The remote is modulating the maximum speed as set by the pull chain.
