Question about Philips FTR-9964 Tuner/Receiver for Plasma
I own a Philips 42" Plasma Flat TV with FTR 9964 Receiver also know as the E-Box. I bought them in 2002 and everything was fine until approx 2 months ago.
I be watching TV for approx. 1 hours to 1 1/2 hours...then the TV will go blank and the receiver box will start to reset itself to channel 2 and the picture will come back on for a few minutes and then both the TV and the E-Box will shut down.
If I turn them back on again....the same thing will happen after apporx. 10 to 15 minutes. I can watch TV for another 1 hour to 2 hours or sometime as long as I want if I let both TV & E-Box power down for 10 to 20 minutes.
The strangest thing is it won't reset or shut down by itself if I am watching movies from my DVD player????
Philips' tech support asked me to unplug both the TV and E-Box in effort to reset them...but didn't work at all.
I contacted the local Philips authorized repair centers in my area and none of them have encountered such issue before. They don't know where to start from.
What's wrong with my Philips 42FD9954/17S 42" plasma TV and FTR 9964 Receiver??? I don't know which one is the one that's acting funny??? TV or the E-Box.
Please help me to reslove the problem.....it's driving me crazy!!!
My receiver always shutdown after some minute of booting and it will return to standby light what could e responsible?

The problem is in your cable connection on the back of your monitor or Box. I had the same problem and solved it by reattaching the VGA cable that was loose.
