ROPER MODEL RED4640YQ0. DRYER WILL NOT HEAT.THERMOSTATS AND HEATING ELEMENT GOOD

What I do is basically remove the drum and look for signs of lint. I clean it all up then check all the components removing a wire from each to get a good read. After you made dang sure all of them thangs have continuity you need to first make sure you have 240 volts going into the machine. The motor on dryers is 120 volt and runs on a separate circuit from the 5000 watt 240 volt heating element. So the dryer will run if the cord is bad or not connect corect OR the circuit breaker is bad OR tripped due to some sort of shorted wiring in the receptacle OR a bad receptacle. So after you know that is fine you gotta check the timer. Find the thick red wire going into the timer from the heating circuit (usually marked RH) remove it from the timer. Set the timer on a heating circuit like cotton or permapress and check between that terminal of the timer and all other terminals on the timer. If you cannot get a reading then your timer is fried inside and is in need of replacement. Google Roper dryer no heat and my video will show up. I did a couple on youtube. Estate dryer also on my youtube channel is a nice video. I have service manuals also on my youtube channel.

Roper dryer will not start

That is probably a blow fuse. If enough lint builds up in the filter chute it will cause the dryer to overheat. The skinny white fuse with one screw and 2 wires mounted on the blower housing melts when temp exceeds 350 f to prevent a dryer fire. I recently worked on a roper dryer with a heat problem and in my video I show how to check the various components step by step:

I have a roper rex5634kq1 the heater shorted and i replaced it but the thermo cut out is stopping it from getting 230 volts is the thermo cut out normally closed or normally open this one had no...

normally closed on any thermal cutout this is to make the circuit to operate the dryer till it overheats, then the thermal opens to shut off current to the heating element for safety

Roper dryer will not start. Had just finished drying a load of clothes, put in the next load and it wouldn't start. The timer still ticks.

Maybe you door switch has broken?

The little tab should click.
Another possibility is dryer overheat due to lint buildup

8_17_2011_3_52_38_pm.jpgSee that white skinny thing mounted next to the air temp control thermostat? That thing will melt if too much junk gets into the lint filter or vent pipe. If it does it kills the door circuit and the dryer is dead in the water. More here

Amana dryer model YNED7200TW will not start. there is power, but start button does nothing. Resetting breaker did not work. Any ideas?

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

TAKES 2 TO 3 CYCLES TO DRY. gETS BARELY WARM

If your dryer is still heating, but you are experiencing longer dry times and poor drying efficiency, the following link can give you some things to check before you assume there is a malfunction with your dryer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

The number one cause of dryer heat related problems is poor exhaust ventilation. If not vented properly, a dryer will not dry efficiently, will actually take longer than required to dry, and will cause the heating circuits to overheat to the point of failure. The dryer will actually seem hotter than usual in many cases as the heating circuits begin to overheat. This is also the source of many fire hazards if not resolved. Read through the link provided and review some of the potential causes.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information is helpful.

NOTE: If you thoroughly check everything and still have problems let me know. The problem could be related to a thermostat failure.

Roper REX5634KQ0 runs for two minutes in any cycle and then stops

This problem sounds like a bad motor bearing causing the motor to overheat, when the motor overheats there is a thermal protector that opens and the motor will not run until it cools down.
