Why does my gateway fpd2185w monitor screen go black after showing my desktop for about 1 minute

David

That problem is calle, refresh, thats happend when the monitor try to refresh the page or "clean" the page, you can set that in your video driver options. but if you don't have a video driver for your particular video card already installed, you don't have a right refresh rate and this delay, may happend.

I recently installed the latest drivers for an nvidia gforce 8500 gt card, and now every single game i try to play crashes. after a few minutes into the game (any game), the monitor goes black, and then...

Not an unusual situation. Try older drivers for the card. You have a couple of options.
1) If you're running a later Windows version, you can revert to earlier drivers with a System Restore. There should be a Help and Support option under your start menu, use that to revert to a time prior to when you updated your drivers.
2) If the last set of drivers you've installed worked, under Windows Explorer, you should have a C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\ folder. Look for a setup.exe file under the fileset before the latest set of drivers, and run that. It should revert you to the driver version that last worked for you.
3) If all else fails, browse to www.nvidia.com, select your region, and from the Download Drivers dropdown, select 'Beta and Archived Drivers'. Select the appropriate settings for your OS and video card, and click 'Search'. You'll find older drivers for your system there. Keep installing older driver versions and test games until you find a driver that works for you.

I am having trouble setting the timing on a 262(4.3l)chevy vortec engine 1995

You have to put the Ignition Control (IC) system in the bypass mode by disconnecting the "set timing" connector. This is a single wire sealed connector that has a tan with black striped lead. The location of the "set timing" connector with a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controller is near the PCM connectors in the passenger compartment. Unplug connector (tan/black stripe) start engine set timing to 0 TDC, TURN OFF ENGINE, re-connect timing connector

Firing Order 1 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2
Drivers side: 1 - 3 - 5
Passenger's side 2 - 4 - 6

Videocard not working

Try removing the new card, booting into BIOS, change your video setting the slot of your card: I believe your card is PCI-E, save changes and exit. When it starts to reboot, turn the computer off, install the new card and then try rebooting again. You may also have to boot into Safe Mode\Uninstall the original video driver or disable that video component and then try rebooting your system.

The game is using all the video ram which is causing the problem. You can try running the game with the bare essentials running in the background but newer games seem to want at least 1 GB of video RAM. Hope this helps.

Make sure in Ulead VideoStudio that your TV system is set to the one that corresponds to your country. If you only set that in the properties of the device itself, the program may still have set the TV system incorrectly. Ensure that it is correct. Also, you may have not installed the drivers correctly. If the video capture driver is not installed, you cannot capture with any program.

Booting problems with my Toshiba Satellite P105

Try to reinstall the video driver from Safe mode.
It appears your hard disk is OK but the operating system and or registry is corrupted.
1. Try installing the video driver first.
2. If it still does not work, back up your data files in Safe Mode then re-install XP again, make sure you delete the partition and create a new partition and do a full NTFS format, not a quick format.
