Question about Alpine IVA-W505 Car DVD Player

1 Answer

I'm attempting to install this unit in a 1996 Volvo 850....and could use some help.

All the speaker wires line up acording to their color codes, but red to the ingnition has nowhere to go. I could tie it in with the yellow 12+ but I think it will drain the battery.

Thank you Richard, It's working fine. I was surprized to realize that all the gps, blue tooth etc. is optional so I simply have a radio and cd player.

If this has the coil over the spark plug try replacing the coil. If it still has wires replace the cap, rotor and wires. Do a compression test and check for a mechanical problem like a burnt valve.

Front oxygen sensor code. Check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and make sure it is ok before you replace the sensor. Any vacuum leak can also cause the code.

Abs dash light on Volvo 850 is on, whats wrong ?

Volvo has had a lot of trouble with ABS control units. Yours will most likely need to be replaced. You can either replace it with an exchange unit from a Volvo parts supplier or send yours to BBA reman. in MA for repair.

go to your local volvo dealership, and you must have the car in your name, but ask one of the mechanics if you can have the code for your radio, they'll look it up and give it to you I believe.

How can I get the code for the radio of a volovo 850?

The first step is to try and remove the radio to see if the code has been written on the casing. This is sometimes done with Volvo.

You will also need to provide the model number printed on the front of your stereo as Volvo branded units are often Clarion or another major brand that has been re-branded Volvo.
