I have my tv on and watch my programs everything is fine. Get ready to go to bed and turn off the tv with the remote and start to go to sleep and the TV has turn itself back on. It has done this before months ago, but last night it did it several times. Just kept turning itself back on. So I have left it on cause it apparantly wants me to watch QVC since it kept putting it on that channel when it would turn on. Is it telling me I need to buy something?

Re: tv wont stay off
Yes - a new more expensive TV that is not a throw-away model.
The problem is probably in the micro and will continue this intermittently - sometimes hot/cold can have an effect on when it has the problem. It will get worse and it will eventually need to be repaired...

The remote would need to reprogrammed for the other devices. It loses its programming when the batteries are replaced. There may be a model number on the back of the remote or under the battery cover. With that information you can probably find the instructions on the manufacturer's website. Or you can purchase another remote if all else fails. They're pretty inexpensive.
There's nothing the remote can do that would affect your TV unless you hit one of the buttons, possibly switching to another input. Unplug the set and let it sit a few minutes. Plug it back in and go through the initial setup again. This should bring everything back to normal for you.

Same Problem. TV was purchased from Sams Club about 2 or 3 years ago. workede great unti llast week. We were watching tv and it just shut off. The power button on the tv started to get soft were you had to push hard or just use the remote. My guess its something with the wsitch.
Does the screen go black with the volume still working ? If so check to make sure your closed caption is turned off . If the sound turns off as well like the tv is turning off , then it might be going into shutdown. Some of these sets have had bad caps in the startup circuit . Let me know , Good luck
did you check remote like battry, loose nothing is deposited near battry contact etc.
if it is getting on from front board and not from remote then fault is due to remote.
but if does not start from front also then problem is inside tv.
like power supply or horizontal section failure.
please do not forget to check plug & socket.
